20th Annual Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival

No matter what your thermometer says outside (mine reads a whole 11 degrees today) Spring is just around the corner. That means it's time to get moving on plans for your trip to the 2013 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival! This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event, and you can be sure that Disney will be celebrating in grand style. The 75 day long Garden Party, sponsored by HGTV, takes place from March 6th, 2013 through May 19th, 2013.

You can expect Epcot to look as pretty as ever during the festival with displays of over 100 topiaries, 240 floating mini-gardens, dozens of flower towers and sweeping beds of multi-colored blooms will add floral splendor to the park landscape. In World Showcase, not only will the the spotlight will shine on topiaries with themes from around the world, but the special enchantment of Disney Princesses. After dark displays become even more magical as the displays twinkle and shine in a new light.

Each day guests will have access to hands-on gardening seminars, and other Festival Center events will offer innovative ideas, HGTV Stars will be on hand to design tips and gardening know-how to park guests. During opening weekend, March 8-10, Chris Lambton of "Going Yard" will appear; other designers scheduled to take the stage include Brandon Johnson of "My Yard Goes Disney" and Meg Caswell of "Meg's Great Rooms."

At the front entrance guests will be greeted by the Fab Five in a fun cook out scene, all in topiary form of course. Rumor has it that Goofy's Topiary reaches a full 14 feet high! But it's just a taste of the inspired living artwork that waiting deeper inside the park. New additions for the year will include familiar Disney friends such as Phineas and Ferb, and Monster's Inc.'s Mike & Sully.

For those of you that are Food & Wine festival fans, I'm happy to add that the Epcot Chef's are crashing the party! With them they'll be bringing "first-time festival food and beverage fun, with special cooking stations offering exclusive-to-the-festival bites along the park's World Showcase promenade." Your taste buds are sure to enjoy the treat with a menu that includes some backyard barbecue and a variety of garden-inspired and global tastes.

Grab a cocktail and head over to enjoy one (or more) of these sensational shows.

We'll be there, probably every weekend! It's one of the best times of year to be at Disney! Hoping the HGTV line-up improves from last year. Glad to hear they are including the Chefs too! :)

There is nothing more entertaining than the Village People! I saw when they were here for the Wine and Cheese Festival and had a blast. Can't wait to see them at the Flower and Garden Festival.

I absolutely LOVE the Flower and Garden festival...it's one of the reasons May has always been one of my favorite times to be in the World! I can't wait (and the warm weather is always a plus, too: it's chilly here in MI!).
