Animal Kingdom Will Be Home For Future AVATAR Project

At a press conference yesterday, Bob Iger and Tom Staggs announced that Disney and the folks that brought you AVATAR have formed a "long-term creative partnership" that will include bringing the movie's fantasy world to Disney's Animal Kingdom.

James Cameron, his producer partner Jon Landau, and Lightstorm Entertainment are set to bring creative consulting to the board alongside Disney Imagineers to create experiences that bring Disney guests into the world of AVATAR. Besides the wildly popular and Oscar-nominated film, two more sequals AVATAR sequels are planned which will bring even more characters, places and stories to the table for the creative teams to draw from.

While the design phase is just beginning, construction on the project could begin sometime in 2013.
