Baby Zebra Born at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

A new female Hartmann's mountain zebra foal has been welcomed by the heard that makes its home at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Phoenix arrived on May 6, 2020 and is the second foal born at the resort this year. Her name was chosen by the care team as a symbol of strength and renewal as Walt Disney World moves forward in this difficult time.

Phoenix was born as part of the Species Survival Plan program, a worldwide program that ensures responsible breeding and genetic diversity of thousands of animal species. She is the 13th overall zebra foal from Walt Disney World since they began participating in the program.

The young foal has bonded well with her mama and is already quite active as she enjoys time exploring the Sunset Savanna. I for one look forward to seeing this spritely new addition to the savanna soon.
