Cast Member Killed In Hit And Run Accident

There's some sad news out of central Florida this week. Liu Ye, a 22-year-old Walt Disney World Cast Member from China, was killed earlier this week in a hit and run accident near Disney-owned property.

Ye was hit by a car Tuesday night while walking on a crosswalk near State Road 535 and Meadow Creek Drive. She died after being taken to Dr. P. Phillips Hospital.

At the time of the accident, Jennifer Toth, the driver of the car that struck Ye, left the scene. According to FHP Sgt. Kim Montes, Toth did call state troopers on Wednesday to request a crash report, stating she thought she had hit something, possibly an animal, on Tuesday. The FHP went on to say Toth left her rental car, the vehicle involved in the crash, behind a business on Vineland Road Tuesday night and took a taxi to her hotel. After investigating the car's damage in comparison to the crash, Toth was arrested on Wednesday and charged with leaving the scene of a crash with a death.

Though troopers suspect alcohol could have played a role in the accident, Toth showed no signs of being under the influence when they made contact with her Wednesday. Toth was booked into the Orange County Jail; she made bond on Thursday.

Ye was a participant in Disney's International College Program and worked in the Magic Kingdom. Of the tragic incident, Disney spokesperson Brian Malenius said, "Our hearts go out to Ye's loved ones and we will continue to provide support to her family and co-workers."

How sad. I read about this the other day. The article I read didn't say the victim was a Cast Member.

I'm sorry this happened to this little girl. It was nice of everyone who reached out to show their love.
