Dinner Has High Energy Fun At Chef Mickey's

Chef Mickey's is an all-you-care-to-eat buffet style restaurant located on the fourth floor of Disney's Contemporary Resort. Serving breakfast and dinner, it is one of the most popular dining locations on property, and it's not hard to see why. You get to dine with the Fab Five! That's right, this character dining spot features Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Donald. Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs) are a must here and should be made as close to the 180 day mark as possible, especially when traveling during peak times.

As soon as you enter Chef Mickey's dining room, you can feel the high energy atmosphere. If you are looking for a low key, quiet meal, you may want to look elsewhere. Chef Mickey's is anything but quiet! Since it is a popular character meal, the place is packed with kids excited to meet their favourite characters. About every half hour the characters get together, music starts playing and guests are encouraged to join in the fun and wave their napkins over their heads.

Once you are seated, your server will come by to take your drink order, then you are free to head to the buffet. The food is very plentiful. As you make your way along, there is a variety of salads, veggies, soup, sides and even a kids spot featuring Mickey mac and cheese. There are roasted meats, seafood and sushi available as well. Over at the dessert buffet (yes, dessert has its own buffet table), there is self serve ice cream, brownies, krispie rice treats, cookies, and even a cupcake tower.

Overall, we enjoyed our first visit to Chef Mickey's. We found the food to be good and even though it gets pretty noisy, we could still have a conversation. On the night we visited, the characters seemed a bit rushed. They didn't linger too long at tables. However, Donald was not in attendance that night either so maybe being down a character was part of the problem.
