On May 1st the press got a special look inside the changes that continue to revive Disney's Hollywood Studios for its 30th Anniversary. It's been a long rocky journey for Disney's third gate; but the future is now and this Park is set up for success to become more popular than ever. We've got plenty of information to share and we can't wait to tell you all the news. Happy Anniversary, Disney's Hollywood Studios!
We'll start off by answering a big question over the years by showing off Disney's Hollywood Studios is getting a brand-new logo. A bold, clean design features the name of the Park with "Hollywood" as the most prominent word for guests to focus on. Images of BB-8, Mickey Mouse, and Woody hint that the future is all about pulling together popular Disney franchises from some of its very best films. After all Disney's Hollywood Studios "Is dedicated to Hollywood not a place on the map, but a state of mind that exists wherever people dream and wonder and imagine."
Disney's Hollywood Studios will soon be connected to guests in a brand new way, beginning in Fall 2019 guests can arrive at the Park via a new gondola system called the Disney Skyliner. Gliding smoothly above the trees the Skyliner will connect Disney's Hollywood Studios (and International Gateway at Epcot) to Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Disney's Pop Century Resort and Disney's Riviera Resort. The breathtaking vistas offered during the ride will provide direct access like never before.
The day began with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse leading a cavalcade of fun down Hollywood Boulevard as friends an residents of Disney's Hollywood Studios paraded through the Park in celebration. Old friends who have made their home at the Studios for years were joined by some of the newest to make their home in the Park. The Citizens of Batuu from Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge proudly joined the cavalcade. This marked the first time they've appeared in the Park giving a show of the latest Batuu fashions.
On August 29th, 2019, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will open to allow guests to live their own Star Wars adventures in a new, 14-acre immersive land. Head over to the DFB to read all about Our First Look BEHIND the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Wall!
At night guests will be able to enjoy a new 30th Anniversary projection show taking them on a journey through more than 90 years of Disney animation. "Wonderful World of Animation" is a love letter to Disney Animation that uses state-of-the-art, projection-mapping technology displayed on the iconic Chinese Theater that's enhanced with laser, light, and pyro effects. The show will include blasts from the past and rarely seen characters, as well as new favorites and classic stories all leading in to the popular "Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular."
Mickey Mouse has attended more than his fair share of movie premiers over his lifetime, and as a working actor it's only fitting that he'll squeeze in one more when "Perfect Picnic" opens in Spring 2020 at the Hollywood Studios very own Chinese Theater. We discovered that this fun new short will provide the portal which takes guests from the real world into a zany cartoon world on the upcoming ride Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. Guests can expect the unexpected on their musical adventure through a theatrical world of cartoon logistics and physics!
There's new table service restaurant coming to Toy Story Land! I'm excited to share that Roundup Rodeo BBQ, will be decked out in an array of colorful toys, games, and playsets, to provide a new family-friendly dining experience. Concept art shows that this new eatery will continue the theme of the land where Andy has decorated and oversized box with crayons, stickers, and toothpick flags to create a festive rodeo atmosphere. While no detailed menu information is out yet, I'm sure they'll be serving up some fantastic food for a long day riding the range.
Of course there will be plenty of fun filled foods to celebrate Disney's Hollywood Studios 30th Anniversary, and the Disney Food Blog already has reviews up for some of the sweetest treats in town!
Our thanks goes out to the team at the Disney Food Blog for help with on the scene reporting and sharing their images. What do you think about the fabulous future of Disney's Hollywood Studios!? Leave us a comment and share what your hopes are for the next 30 years of fun.
