In the middle of this winter cold, there's nothing more that I would like than to be lying on a Caribbean beach in the sun on a quiet beach. A short Disney Cruise with a stop at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay sounds like just the break I need! No need to worry about the kids because I'll be headed straight to Serenity Bay.
Located almost a mile from the main hustle and bustle of the family beach, Serenity Bay transports you to a pristine stretch of soft sand maintained exclusively for adults. The sparkling turquoise waters lap gently on the shore and palm fronds sway in the breeze at this special Caribbean retreat. The only down side is that you can't book a room and stay for a week.
During your day at Serenity Bay Disney offers the ultimate in relaxation. You can enjoy your stay by snagging a comfortable lounge chair, nap in a hammock for two on the beach or enjoy the rental of one of Serenity Bay's four beautiful cabanas with concierge service. Limited spa services can also be booked at Serenity Bay, so you can relax with a tranquil, tropical, therapeutic massage.
At lunch time there's no need to head back to the main guest area because a delicious lunch buffet is waiting right there for you, at the Castaway Air Bar. There's no need for money, as your sailing card charges anything you buy to your shipboard account. Be sure to try one of the island's famous Konk Koolers. It's a concoction made with rum, coconut, pineapple and orange juice and passion fruit that is sure to delight!
There's never enough time for me at Serenity Bay to enjoy the luxury and privacy of this setting akin to a deluxe Caribbean beach resort. If you're looking for a grownup winter escape, you should definitely keep this special Disney get away in mind.
