We at Walt Disney World for Grown-ups have been looking forward to this new addition since it was first announced.

Themed after an electric company at the beginning of the modern age, The Edison will feature soaring 35 foot high ceilings and a dynamic "industrial gothic" chic. Think steampunk moves into the 20th century, there's a gritty 1920's element to the decor that's enhanced by the use of vintage mechanical pieces in the design where possible rather than new ones that have been aged.

A little tamer than its LA sister property, The Edison at Disney Springs will be more family friendly by day serving lunch and dinner. However according to the Disney Food Blog, "around 10:00 pm each night, the spot is dedicated strictly to the 21-and-over crowd with entertainment ranging from contortionists, aerialists, palm readers, live bands, and DJs and more." Those towering ceilings just may come into play here as there's a pretty solid rumor it's perfect for aerial artists to be performing overhead.

Adjacent to The Edison power plant, the guests will find themselves in what was once the bustling 1930's air terminal for the town of Disney Springs. Here, guests will find a trio of restaurant and bars run by the charming storybook couple, Maria and Enzo. The rich backstory of these immigrants tells us that they that started out with a tiny bakery in the air terminal that was popular with the residents of the town. When the air terminal closed, the people of Disney Springs still wanted the delicious Southern Italian foods they had become accustomed to, so Maria and Enzo bought the terminal and expanded their operations into a full restaurant.

Maria & Enzo's will be an open and airy Italian trattoria that takes advantage of the old terminal spaces. The visage evokes the golden age of air travel, and the menu here will feature family-friendly dishes inspired by the flavors of Sicily. Items to expect include Fritto Misto, Arancini de Carne, and all homemade pasta. Wine lovers will also be excited to hear that the restaurant will boast a 100 label wine list to accompany the southern Italian flavors.

History wasn't lost on the designers of this space, and prohibition left its mark in the tunnels below the terminal. According to local legend during the Prohibition era, bootleggers utilized the secret space beneath the terminal to move their product. The network of speakeasy tunnels became a bit of a hot spot. Enzo's Hideaway Tunnel Bar will open in the crafty spaces that still have the graffiti on the walls from adventures gone by. Prohibition-era cocktails and Roman inspire plates will be served in the Tunnel Bar that will be home to the largest selection of "antique" and specialty rums on property.

Finally, Pizza Ponte had a soft opening this week! This bright and airy space sits in the travel terminal where Maria & Enzo opened their first business. The decor is about as utilitarian as one would expect from an airport terminal, yet the 1930's feel is sleek and friendly. Guests today can grab a bite of what look to be pretty delicious Italian pastries, pizza, sandwiches, and of course espresso at this quick service location. Who needs a fancy interior when the food is good? Our friends over at the Disney Food Blog posted a first look at Pizza Ponte, and we're chomping at the bit to read their full review. What we've seen so far of this new Italian cafe makes it a fantastic addition to the Disney Springs line-up, especially since it will offer another option for breakfast in Disney's sprawling shopping, dining, and entertainment center.
