If you find yourself craving comfort food the next time you're visiting the Magic Kingdom but you're looking for a quick bite to eat we recommend stopping by The Friar's Nook in Fanstasyland. It is the perfect spot to find a couple varieties of gourmet mac and cheese, which is the some of the best comfort food you can find.
The Friar's Nook used to be one of those is-it-open-or-closed spots at the Magic Kingdom and guests often found the walk-up counter closed unless it was a crowded day at the parks. But lately the quick service spot has been open on a more regular basis and serving up some interesting macaroni and cheese options.
You'll find The Friar's Nook located in Fantasyland near Prince Charming's Regal Carrousel and Princess Fairytale Hall. All the seating is outdoors but you'll find some nice views of Fantasyland provided you can find a seat. Seating is at a premium as the seating area is shared with Storybook Treats (a great spot to grab a sundae!).
But enough about the location, let's talk about the eats!
Now, it's pretty safe to assume that mac and cheese is not going to be your go-to meal with it is 95 degrees outside with 1000 percent humidity. That would just be crazy. But we're moving into fall and winter and it is bound to get cooler in Florida. And by cooler we mean in the 70s. Which is good weather for eating mac and cheese, at least when you're in Florida.
At The Friar's Nook you'll find a rotating menu of mac and cheese options and right now those include Barbecue Chicken Macaroni and Cheese, Pot Roast Macaroni and Cheese, and the standard Macaroni and Cheese.
The new Barbecue Chicken Macaroni and Cheese replaced the Bacon Cheeseburger version that was on the menu earlier this year. The cheesy noodles are topped with barbecue chicken, coleslaw, and bread crumbs which is an interesting combination that works for reasons we can't really explain.
The Pot Roast Macaroni and Cheese is topped with a pile of delicious pot roast which is a very rich and somewhat heavy combination. This is a dish that could be shared (and probably should be shared) unless you're really, really hungry or you're competing in some sort of food challenge.
If mac and cheese isn't your favorite The Friar's Nook also features a hot dog, veggies and chips with hummus (a great light snack!), apple slices with caramel sauce, or carrot cake. It's really a great spot to grab a quick meal or snack as you wait for your FastPass+ return time at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Have you tried any of the gourmet mac and cheese dishes at The Friar's Nook? Leave us a comment and let us know which one is your favorite.

I just had the Pot Roast mac & cheese last week. It was very tasty but extremely messy since they hadn't thoroughly drained the meat before putting it on top. So the broth sloshed all over the place while trying to carry it. I do recommend getting it, just be careful. ;-)
