Extinct Disney World Attractions [Facebook Fans]

We recently asked out Facebook fans, "What's your favorite extinct Disney World attraction?" And we got some great responses!

The attraction that got the most votes was Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, with Skyway coming in second, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea rounding out the top three. Overall we had 15 attractions mentioned.

In addition to the top 3, Horizons, World of Motion, the original Journey into Imagination, Delta Dreamflight, Alien Encounter, If You Had Wings, Cranium Command, Kitchen Kabaret Revue, Food Rocks, Discovery Island, The Timekeeper, and Pleasure Island were all mentioned.

Just to refresh your memory Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was one of the original attractions at Magic Kingdom and was a favorite of many Disney visitors over the years. On September 7, 1998 Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was closed to make way for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Here is what our fans had to say about Mr. Toad's Wild Ride:

Melissa B. said, "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride!!!"

Amy S. said, "Oh, how I miss Toad. Where else do you get to drive straight towards a train, get a glimpse of the devil, and live to tell about it?"

Shelly N. said, "r. Toad's Wild Ride!!!! my husband has literally boycotted us(his family) from going on the pooh ride because it replaced Toad...no joke, he's THAT serious about it."

Skyway was a gondola lift attraction that took riders back and forth between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. Disney closed Skyway at the Magic Kingdom in November of 1999. The station in Tomorrowland was demolished in 2009 while the station in Fantasyland is now used for stroller parking.

Here is what our fans had to say about Skyway:

Joanna S. said, "The Skyway!"

Gale M. said, "wow i forgot about the skyway i liked that alot."

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage was an original attraction in Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland and took guests on an underwater adventure in a submarine. The attraction closed in 1994 and while guests held onto hope that 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea would eventually re-open all subs were eventually removed and the lagoon was drained to make way for other Fantasyland attractions.

Ruth G. said, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea."

Matt R. said, "If you had wings and 20,000 leagues under the sea."

So what extinct Disney World attraction do you miss most?

#1 Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (always a "must do" when I was a kid)

#2 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (it was always breaking down but totally awesome when working)

#3 The Skyway ( still makes me tear up when we see it now as a baby stroller parking spot. Loved taking that over to Tomorrowland)

I really liked "If you had Wings" by Eastern airlines. That was a cool ride. It was one of the first rides I rode at WDW that you stepped on the conveyor belt and then was so easy to get in to the ride. Once you were seated it sort of took off, or raised off the ground a little and had the feeling of flying. It had videos of places Eastern Airlines flys and it was nice and cool inside the ride! Especially when you went through a mountainous area with the snow on the peaks.

I wish they could do something else with that ride.
