When you're visiting the Walt Disney World Resort it is very important to stay hydrated, especially in the hot summer months. But sometimes you just have to step away from the water and find a great grownup beverage. Something cold, maybe frozen, but definitely delicious.
We all have our favorite "adult" beverages at Disney World, so let's belly up to the bar and check out some of our favorite drinks around the World.
First on the list today has to be the "grownup slushes" from Les Vins des Chefs de France in Epcot's France pavilion. You can choose from a Grand Marnier Slush (my favorite) or the Grey Goose Slush (also delish). These drinks are sweet and pack a mean brain freeze. You've been warned. Grab a bite at Les Halles to pair with the slush, find a bench, and enjoy.
One of my all-time favorite drinks at Disney is the classic Blue Glow-tini. I have to order it at least once (or twice) on every trip. And yes, I love it because it's blue and it glows. I'm not ashamed to admit that. The Glow-tini is a bar standard at Disney and it's made with Skyy Infusions Citrus Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, Bols Blue Curacao, and Pineapple Juice with a Sugared Rim. And a glow cube. You really must try this one.
Speaking of blue drinks (we were), have you seen the new 24-ounce Seven Seas Lagoon cocktail at The Wave...of American Flavors at Disney's Contemporary Resort? If you're looking for fun and you have a friend or two to help you out (it IS 24 ounces of booze), you gotta stop by the Contemporary and order one.
The Seven Seas Lagoon is made with Skyy Vodka, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, lime and pineapple juices, soda water, and agave. And the drink is adorned with two Mickey straws, peach gummy ring candies (life preservers, 'natch), gummy fish candies, and green boba pearls. AND a glow cube, because it's fun.
A short Monorail ride away from the Contemporary is Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, the home to another favorite beverage - the Lapu Lapu. This is the ONLY drink served in a whole pineapple at Disney World, which makes it a lot cooler than the other drinks. The Lapu Lapu is really a must-do when you're at Disney World. Trust us, it is in the Disney vacation handbook. Stop by the Tambu Lounge in Disney's Polynesian Village and enjoy the delicious blend of Myer's Original Dark Rum and tropical fruit juices topped with even MORE rum. There is no such thing as too much rum when you're drinking a Lapu Lapu.
Downstairs from the Tambu Lounge you'll find Trader Sam's Grog Grotto, home to a slew of really amazing adult beverages. Fan favorites include the Polynesian Pearl, the Krakatoa Punch, and if you're visiting with friends you just have to order the Uh-Oa.
We love margaritas and LaCava is THE place to get a great margarita at Disney World. Stop by the very small bar inside Epcot's Mexico Pavilion and check out their super cool margarita menu. Can't decide? We recommend the Avocado Margarita. The name says avocado but it tastes like bananas. Totally weird, but in a good way.
If you're looking for something totally different and unique, check out the rim salts at LaCava. They serve up a collection of unique rim salts including Grasshopper, Black Ant, and Poblano Pepper. Yes, we said Black Ant Salt. [We are not brave enough for ants on our drinks. But if you try it, let us know how it goes].
Another fun spot to find some great drinks is the new-ish AbracadBAR at Disney's BoardWalk. The theme is magic and the menu features Enchanting Elixirs and Curious Concoctions including The Conjurita, Parlor Trick, and Coney Negroni. You'll also find Worldly Wine and Baffling Beers. They also have a sweet non-boozy drink called the Seashore Sweet made with lemonade and blue cotton candy. Yum! Our fave is the Conjurita, a sweet margarita.
There are so many great adult drinks at Disney World including the very popular 'adult milkshakes" and "adult floats" that seem to be popping up everywhere, including D-Luxe Burger, the Food and Wine Festival, and Beaches and Cream. Another favorite (which is perfect on one of those melt-into-the-pavement summer days) is the Triple Yeti Blast at Disney's Animal Kingdom. So good!
We'd love to hear about your favorite, must-have drink at Disney World. Leave us a comment and share your favorites.
Many thanks to the Disney Food Blog for use of their photos.
