Fireworks at Sea

One of the best nights of all on board the ships of Disney Cruise Line is pirate night! From the pirate themed dinner to the outrageously fun deck party, Disney offers a great romping adventure of song, dance and piratey fun. The grand finale of that spectacular show is the extravagant treat of fireworks at sea. Disney is a pioneer in the Fireworks industry and their patented air launch system is not only quieter, greener, more precise and less dangerous; but allowed fireworks to be displayed in ways never seen before.

The Disney Magic and Disney Wonder have long been recognized as the only cruise ships that offer fireworks displays at sea, and Mickey's The "Pirates IN the Caribbean" party one of the best night time extravaganzas in the industry. With the addition of the Disney Dream to the fleet, DCL took the unique show and kicked it up with bigger fireworks that are choreographed to a rollicking pirate soundtrack.

The Disney Dream's brilliant colors explode in a fantasy show called "Buccaneer Blast!" which is the largest fireworks spectacular aboard a cruise ship. The amazing pyrotechnic spectacular is choreographed to a dramatic score featuring songs from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies, Peter Pan, and the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at the Disney theme parks.

We Disney fans can be pretty particular about the nighttime shows we're offered, as Disney Parks have set a gold standard. This element on board the ship is just one of the many details that reminded me why we travel almost exclusively with Disney. Launched from the back of the ship above the high end Palo restaurant, even at sea Disney had created the perfect "goodnight kiss."

You don't have to take my word for it though, take a look at this fantastic YouTube video from OrlandoExaminer:

So, what did you think? I watched this show cuddled up in a teak lounge chair on deck 12, under a sky full of a billion twinkling stars. With almost no light pollution the pyrotechnics were more spectacular than ever. Have you seen this industry exclusive? Does it make you more likely to take a cruise? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Well!

(a) That's AWESOME!
(b) It never occurred to me that they would/could do fireworks from a cruise ship!
(c) Pirates IN the Caribbean?!? This was clearly meant for me!

This adds to our likelihood of a cruise in 2013 for the Big 5-0 Celebration Extravaganza :)
