Leisurely Last Minute Spring Break Travel

If you're feeling the crush from being cooped up all winter and want to embrace the spring, or your new vaccine, it may be time to head to Florida for a quick Spring Break at Walt Disney World. While Theme Park reservations have been filling up fast, I'm here to tell you that Disney is still an excellent destination for your last minute trip. The key to a successful last minute Disney trip is a slower pace and lots of leisure time to wander around and smell the roses.

Still Health & Safety Focused

Crowds heading to Walt Disney World tend to be significantly tamer than those you'll find at the coastal beaches, and Center For Disease Control guided precautions are still in full place across the property. Disney Guests can expect to be asked to mask up, maintain physical distance, and reminded to wash those hands. While much of the country is beginning to loosen COVID-19 restrictions, Disney travelers can be assured that they are in a space following all of the latest CDC guidelines.

Pack With Purpose

Sunscreen, flip flops and beach towels will cost you twice as much at Disney as they will at home, pack for the activities you plan on participating in. My thought is that it's always better to over pack than have to pay Disney prices for basics, including toiletries, shoes, and beachwear. Pack basic pharmaceuticals like Tylenol and Dayquil; and pack more than one pair of shoes, just trust me on this one, your feet will thank you. This Spring Break you will also want to make sure you have a good supply of cute masks! Just make sure you know the Disney Face Covering Guidelines you are expected to follow.

Theme Park Fun

Currently Guests need a Theme Park Reservation as well as Admission Media to enter any of the Disney Parks. Reservations are highly limited due to capacity restrictions and it is advised that you snag yours as soon as possible as those will shape your vacationing strategy. Spring break dates are filling up fast, but if you can't find what you want be sure to check back daily as Disney has been dropping extra capacity here and there.

A Taste of Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is happening right now, so if you want to take in all the beauty of springtime you won't want to miss it. As a garden loving gal, this annual special event is one of my favorites.

Disney Golf Is Available To Play

Disney has some beautiful championship golf courses operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management right on property. Get out in the fresh air and tee off safely on one of four stunning locations that are full of Disney charm.

Pool Time For Leisure or Adventure

Disney Resort Hotels have some truly fabulous pools, and I'm a big fan of taking advantage of that luxury resort amenity. Leisure time is important and soaking up some sun or splashing in the water can be a trip highlight when it comes to relaxing on vacation.

Disney Water Parks cost half of the admission of Theme Parks and Blizzard Beach is open! You can pack in a full day of adventure and thrills or simply soak up the sun. Masks should not be worn in the water and on the water slides, but still need to be worn for entry and exit, lockers, restrooms, changing areas, or going to a food or merchandise location.

Disney Springs

Disney Springs is one of my favorite places to spend the day at Walt Disney World. With no general admission fee or reservation needed, Disney Springs is the ultimate location to pick up some souvenirs, pose for photo ops, listen to live music, and eat some truly fantastic food. You can even splurge a bit and see a movie, take a flight on the Aerophile Balloon, or a leisurely Vintage Amphicar Tours.

Bonus Last Leisurely Travel Tips:

  • Splurge on a Disney Deluxe Resort and take advantage of all the amenities available right at your hotel.
  • Sleep in, change your tactics, do something on a whim. Without a pre-planned schedule you can truly take advantage of your leisure time and maybe even head home rested.
  • Create Your Own Food and Wine Fest. Who says you have to sit down for formal meals? The entire Disney property offers a broad array of tastes and flavors to chose from. Indulge your cravings and create your own food crawl, no reservations needed.
