Looking Ahead To An Action Packed Marvel Studios 2015

To steal a line for the great Stan Lee; "Hello True Believers!" It's been a while but with the new year slowly coming upon us, the Marvel News machine is beginning to pick up spread as it prepares for it's biggest year to date. 2015 promises to be a phemonenal year for Marvel fans around the world: movies, TV, and streming content all plan to take over our screens in one way or another. So, what I hope will become a more regular series here on WDW for Grown-ups, I bring you another iconic Marvel aspect...The Bullpen.

Movie News:

Let's start off with the trailer released for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Marvel promises us an epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time! Tony Stark tries to restart a dormant peacekeeping program, but things go horribly awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes are put to the ultimate test as the battle to save the planet.

Next, in what still seems like a nebulous project to many Marvel Fans, a founding member of The Avengers comes to the big screen for the first time in Ant-Man. Our first look at this new hero played by Paul Rudd finds him "with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength. Master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats."

More fun then actual news, but Scott Derrickson (the director for the hotly anticipated Doctor Strange movie) has joined the Cumberbatch/Strange fanart fest on Twitter. Earlier in December, Derrickson posted a beautiful rendition of Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange (link). Along with this piece of fanart, he also placed an homage to the venerable band, The Talking Heads. Here's hoping that this isn't just a great piece of art but a possible concept of Derrickson's vision for the mystical Marvel hero.

Netflix:

Movie news aside and as we wait with anticipation on the new installment of Agent Carter on ABC television, Netflix and their inclusions into the Marvel movie-verse are racking up their shows. First and foremost is the reboot of The Daredevil. This retelling, of a much darker and mature hero, has officially finished production. This promises to be the largest budgeted show currently produced but Netflix, who so far has had some incredible hits with shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. While I still haven't seen an official release date yet, the one thing that is known is that The Daredevil will release in 2015.

Casting:

In casting for the netflix universe, two more shows have signed stars to their signature names. Luke Cage sees the addition of Mike Colter in the role of Luke Cage. We will still have a little wait ahead of us before we see anything about Luke Cage but what we do know is that both the actor and character will appear in Jessica Jones before he gets his own show. But you may ask; "That's great and all but why cast for a show not in production yet when Jessica Jones doesn't have it's actress?" Well we have that casting choice as well. The title character, Jessica Jones, has been cast as Kristen Ritter. That leaves one more hero to get cast as Marvel and Netflix prepare to bring all of us the dark and gritty Hell's Kitchen heroes.

I've been say so for months, 2015 is definitely going to be the year of Marvel. I know I am super excited to see my favorite comicbooks up on a screen, but what about you our readers?

Are you excited to see these new offerings from Marvel? Is there a character that you really want to see? Tell us about them.
