Magic Band Technology Possibly Boosting Guest Spending at Walt Disney World

A few weeks ago we reported on the new accessories available for the Magic Bands currently being tested by some guests at the Walt Disney World Resort. While one might expect a boost in spending thanks to the fun accessories, it appears that the technology behind the bands is also boosting spending by guests.

In a recent interview, Walt Disney World Parks Division Chairman Tom Staggs said that Disney believes guests are spending more money in part because they are having fun with the technology behind the bands.

The Magic Bands are lightweight, flexible wristbands that will be used by guests to enter the Walt Disney World parks, access FastPass+ attractions, and more.

Guests can also purchase items in their hotels and in the theme parks and water parks by simply waving the bands past a sensor. And it seems that this speedy transaction time might be leading to the increase in spending.

The Magic Bands are still in beta testing but will eventually be rolled out to all guests at Walt Disney World.

I believe that this is happening - not only are people able to spend money more easily - but there's the whole new line of souvenirs to decorate the Magic Bands!

Have you heard when they may be in effect for everyone? We're going in Nov and I'm hoping to use them.

Hi Lindsey! Disney hasn't announced yet when they will be in place for everyone, but the testing continues. All we can really do is wait and see!
