Maria & Enzo's Surprise Dessert Sensation

A couple of months ago I stopped in to Maria & Enzo's for a grand lunch with friends at Disney Springs. While I'm working on a full review I wanted to take a minute to talk a bit about the absolutely spectacular tiramisu because to be honest, I'm still dreaming about it.

I confess that as much as I love my coffee, I don't often enjoy coffee flavored things. The tiramisu at Maria & Enzo's makes me eat those words. At its base tiramisu contains a short list of ingredients: finger biscuits, egg yolks, sugar, coffee, mascarpone cheese and cocoa powder. The way these things are put together though, and the choices made by the pastry chef leave a wide range of interpretations.

Maria & Enzo's tiramisu melts in your mouth. The silky smooth textures leave you feeling more like your indulging in a light and airy mousse. The coffee dipped cake is soaked through in a rich yet subtle roast. It doesn't leave you pounded over the head in espresso that has gone bitter. The whipped mascarpone cream is fresh and soothing, the dish is dusted with just enough cocoa powder to balance everything out.

The overall effect is simple, elegant, and worth every lush bite.

Recipes for tiramisu began popping up in cookbooks throughout the 1960's turning into a trendy glob trotting dessert. That fits in perfectly with the aviation theme of the vintage terminal that's been taken over by Maria & Enzo's.

Just a small side note before I close. I wasn't able to find the Tiramisu on Maria & Enzo's menu online as I wrote this article, but my receipt from the meal clearly shows that we ordered it at a cost of $12. If you don't see it listed, just ask your if they have it available.

We had a very good tiramisu in Via Napoli in EPCOT in the summer. Needed a bit more booze but still fantastic. In fact, Via Napoli was highly recommended as a whole.

I know this article is about Maria & Enzo but there you go!

Good to hear that Neil! My dining companion who had ordered the tiramisu commented that this was much better than the tiramisu she had at Via Napoli. The coffee flavor at Maria & Enzo's was rounder and not as strong.
