Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party vs. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Both Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party are popular events at Disney but often I'm asked which one is better. To be honest I don't think there is one right answer to this question but I do think that individually one can be better for you!

Both are great events because they allow you to experience the Magic Kingdom with a somewhat smaller crowd than a regular busy park day (unless you go on the actual holidays or the right before or after Christmas). And a ticket to either event is cheaper than a one-day park ticket so you can relax and enjoy a non-park day then head to the Magic Kingdom around 4pm and stay late into the night!

So now to figure which one is for you!

MNSSHP is a great event for all ages held annually at the Magic Kingdom on select nights during September, October, and November. Do you love Halloween and everything that goes with it? Well then you might want to consider visiting MNSSHP this year (or next!)

Guests of MNSSHP are invited to dress up in [appropriate] costumes and enjoy a night in the Magic Kingdom complete with some pretty amazing trick-or-treating. Costumes are by no means required and you can still get candy without dressing up.

For MNSSHP Disney has rolled out a specialty fireworks show, Happy HalloWishes, that is considered to be one of the best fireworks shows that Disney puts on! Mickey's "Boo-to-You" Halloween Parade features many Disney characters in their Halloween costumes, as well as the stars from the Haunted Mansion attraction!

Disney goes all out decorating the Magic Kingdom for Halloween. It is one of my favorite times to visit because it makes me feel like I am actually experiencing fall, in Florida we don't get a real fall season so the Magic Kingdom is the next best thing!

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

MVMCP is held every year during the Christmas season at the Magic Kingdom. If you love the Christmas season then this event needs to go on your must-do Disney list!

Every year Disney's elves transform the Magic Kingdom into a Winter Wonderland in late November and it is truly magical! The Castle even gets a makeover and is covered in twinkling lights that set the atmosphere for the rest of the park.

The Holiday Wishes: Spirit of the Season fireworks are my favorite in all of Disney World. There is just something about being bundled up in front of the Castle sipping hot cocoa watching the fireworks that makes me so happy. And Santa Clause makes an appearance in Mickey's Once Upon a Dream Parade- everyone knows he spends his down time at the World!

It even snows in Magic Kingdom! Yes, even in what can sometimes be 80 degree Florida weather it snows on Main Street thanks to that Disney magic!

Around the Magic Kingdom there are treat stations where guests can get cookies and hot cocoa, or if you are so inclined apple slices and apple juice. I don't know how they do it but it is seriously some of the best hot cocoa I have ever had.

As you can tell I love MVMCP. Going has been a family tradition for many years, and it just wouldn't be the Christmas season in our house without a trip to MVMCP. But I don't think you can really go wrong with either event!

So which event is on your must-do list? Do you have a favorite?

I've been to the Christmas party several times, and have always enjoyed it. Never have experienced the Halloween Party, but I can't imagine it wouldn't be a great time...

Wow, so much to love about both of them! And I can finally say we have been to both MNSSHP and MVMCP! So cross that off the bucket list :)

This may sound counter-intuitive and indicate just how screwed up...I mean, incredibly complex a person I am, but here's my vote:

I am not a big Halloween fan, but I am a Christmas fanatic. However, when it comes to Disney, I actually enjoyed MNSSHP over MVMCP! I think it was the whisical nature of the Halloween party that did it for me.

But honestly, who can't fall in love with the magic of MK at night during Christmas?!

I haven't been to the Christmas Party yet, this year will be my second time at MNSSHP and I love it! I think that if we ever take a winter vacation again the Christmas Party will be on our list!

I'm going to the MNSSHP tonight and I think it's the best party for me. One of the things I like is that people dress up in the cutest costumes and seeing how creative they are can be an attraction in itself. The park is beautiful with all the decorations and the parade is adorable. They give you a bag at the beginning and you go trick or treating within the park and it's so much fun. I go to the Magic Kingdom during Christmas just to see the beautiful decorations anyway so other then the cookies and hot cocoa, there's no difference there.

I've been to Disneyland during Halloween, but never Christmas. I will be going to Disney World in 2017 for my 30th Birthday. Which event should I plan around?

They're both exciting times at Walt Disney World! I personally love October in Disney World because not only does it include the Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom, but you get the Food & Wine Festival over at Epcot and the crowds aren't insane like they are at Christmas.
