New Alternate Reality Game ‘The Optimist’ Allows Participants to Explore Walt Disney’s Vision of Tomorrow

If you ever wanted to know what it might be like to be part of a secret project that involves solving a mystery based on Walt Disney's plans for tomorrow, then there's a new alternate reality game just for you.

It's called 'The Optimist' and it is a narrative adventure - a story really - where people around the world can join in via social media and explore virtual and physical realms while putting together a story. The story is a fictional tale of Walt Disney, his Imagineers, and their involvement in a project about building a better tomorrow.

'The Optimist' is presented through a partnership between Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development and The Walt Disney Studios.

"In this alternate reality experience, one of our characters has discovered some previously unknown facts that could change what we think we know about Walt Disney, Imagineering and Disneyland park," said Scott Trowbridge, head of Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development.

Players in the game can participate at different levels during the six week story. The experience of 'The Optimist' culminates at the D23 Expo in Anaheim on August 9-11.
