Overnight Parking Fees Coming To Walt Disney World Resort Hotels

Yesterday, Walt Disney World announced some changes to their parking fees that have sent rumblings out through the online Disney Fan community. Guests who book their reservation to stay at all Walt Disney World Resort Hotels after March 21 will be charged for overnight parking if they intend to leave their cars at the hotel. The overnight parking fees will be added to the guest's hotel folio at check-out.

Prices for overnight parking are as follows:

  • Disney Value Resorts: $13 per night
  • Disney Moderate Resorts: $19 per night
  • Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts: $24 per night
  • Valet Parking is available at Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts will be raised to $33 per night.

We've confirmed with Disney that for the time being Disney Vacation Club (DVC) members "will not be charged for standard overnight self-parking when staying at a DVC Deluxe Villa, regardless of whether they use vacation points or another form of payment. Members also will not be charged to park when using vacation points to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel."

It's not just the Vacation Club Members that are free from these new fees. Day Guests at the Resort Hotels, such as those who just come in for dinning, visiting other Guests staying at the Resort, or to simply enjoy resort facilities such as entertainment or the marinas, will also not be charged for parking. It is also worth noting here that Guests at the Campsites at Fort Wilderness will not be charged for parking either, as each campsite provides one spot for a vehicle.

After March 21st, 2018, you may want to consider coming by royal carriage. Is Disney just trying to squeeze another dime out of us? Are they trying to further manage the flow of traffic on property by discouraging cars? Or is it all just another reason to get folks to buy into DVC? We love Disney and pass up a lot of other vacations to go there but this may be the final straw. Disney wants to charge as much as the market can stand, I get that. As far as I'm concerned they have passed that point. I can get a lot more vacation elsewhere for what I pay for a Disney vacation. Paying to park when they would pick me up at the airport for free is just an insult. Not having to pay to park was a perk for staying on property. The bus service isn't that great and extended hours is when people that know Disney, know when not to got to a park. There is no longer a benefit to stay on property other than staying in the 'magic' and the time it takes to walk through it from the room to the bus and back isn't worth that much. I will miss Disney.
