Saratoga Springs Resort Turf Club Bar

Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa may be one of the hidden gems of Walt Disney World Hotels. It's Victoria Resort style decor harkens back to the "heyday" of Saratoga Springs, New York and the equestrian lifestyle enjoyed there. Disney's Saratoga Springs has two pool bars and the Turf Club Bar & Grill available for the enjoyment of their guests.

Located in the Carriage House Building, the Turf Club Bar & Grill is nestled around a corner and down a long hall, even for guests staying here it can be considered out of the way. The Bar's decor is highlighted the equestrian theme and a country club lounge atmosphere. The open area offers high-top and regular tables as well as a few comfy couches and coffee tables. The bar offers traditional amusements such as a pool table and Television. During the day it's fairly quiet and relaxing in here, however in the evening the tables are frequently filled with families waiting to be seated for their dining reservations.

A broad selection of appetizers available from the restaurant kitchen including: Buffalo Chicken Nachos, Roasted Stuffed Mushrooms, Steamed Prince Edward Island Mussels, and Onion Rings with dips. The food here is frequently given mixed reviews, but I've not had a bad meal and have received some of the best service ever from Turf Club Staff.

The bar has a selection of specialty drinks named for the equestrian racing theme, as well as the Standard Disney Drink Menu and a small wine selection. Specialty drinks include the Preakness Cosmo for $7.50 and the Mint Julep for $11. My husband thought he would be all southern gentleman for the night and ordered the Mint Julep, which he didn't care for, while I stuck with the Iron Horse Fairy Tale Cuvee'.

However, if you live for specialty, micro-brewed beers the Turf Club Bar has a real treat. This is one of the few places in the country that you can have a Saratoga Lager. Only available in New York State or here at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort, this reddish beer has caramel notes and a slightly hoppy finish that is very smooth going down.

The Turf Club Bar is quaint and if it's not overly crowded can be a good place to relax before dinner. I don't however find it to be a destination bar own it's own. Have you stopped in to this out of the way watering hole for a drink? Did you try the Mint Julep? Leave me a comment telling me what you thought!

We have not tried the mint Julep, but we have had dinner at the Turf Club and I would highly recommend it.
