Siestas Poolside Bar at the Coronado Springs Resort Dig Site

Continuing our Friday bar hop, we've covered the super chic Rix Lounge and the charming lakeside retreat that is the Laguna Bar, but have you been over to Siesta's Pool Bar and Grill at the Coronado Springs Resort? Located pool side at the Dig Site, this is a great spot to grab a bite and a drink. Siestas opens daily at 11 a.m. and closes depending on the season between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Siesta's sits right at the side of the 272,000+ gallon main pool with an open air scattering of tables and chairs shaded by colorful umbrellas as well as ample seating at the cantina bar. The atmosphere is fun and playful with the activities of the Dig Site all around. It's a bustling area just made for soaking up the sun or taking a dip in this fantastic pool.

One of the nicest things about Siesta's is the onsite grill that allows for some basic bar foods like hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, and nachos to be served. So if you don't feel like leaving poolside for a bite to eat, Siesta's has you covered. Food at Siesta's has been on the Disney Dining Plan since at least 2010, however at the time of publication is not yet signed up for 2013.

I hear tell that the bartenders at this spot are friendly and quite talented. Apparently they "can mix you a drink in one hand and twirl a tequila bottle in another." That always makes for a fun show. The specialty cocktail menu includes some fun favorites:

  • Frozen Fiesta Margarita - blend of Sauza tequila, mango, strawberry, lime $9.25
  • Pancho Villa Pina Colada or Strawberry Daiquiri $8.75
  • Francisco's Margarita - frozen margarita made with Sauza tequila, triple sec, and tropical juices $9.25
  • Electric Lemonade - a refreshing blend of Bacardi Limon, blue curacao, and lemonade $8.75
  • Raspberry Crush on the Rocks - Bacardi Razz, pineapple, sour and grenadine $8.75

Siestas is open and serving food after 2 p.m. when other Coronado Springs Restaurants close until dinner time. This makes it a popular option for families eating at off hours. However it closes earlier than many pool bars on Walt Disney World Property, probably because there's no shortage of spots to grab a drink at the Coronado Springs. All prices and menu items are subject to change.
