B.B. Wolf's Sausage Co. in The Town Center at Disney Springs is a Disney owned and operated kiosk serving up gourmet sausages with some serious style. I dropped in recently to try the sampler and see what all the huff and puff is about when it comes to these artisanal dogs.
The restaurant itself is an unassuming little kiosk tucked right at the mouth of the Town Center bridge. The kiosk building is charming, with architectural nods to the story of the Three Little Pigs. Be sure to take a moment to appreciate details such as the weathervane, the chimney, and fork spearing a sausage sign.
The kiosk doesn't really have a dedicated seating area, but guests will find a couple of tables with umbrellas across the way near the lake, and also nearby the World of Disney Store where you can enjoy your meal. These sausage creations are loaded with toppings, so you're going to want to find a spot where you can sit and eat because this isn't walking food.
I couldn't resist ordering the Three Little Pigs. This dish is a sampler platter that gives guest a three mini versions of our specialty dogs including the Pastrami Reuben Dog, Hawaiian Island Dog and Texas Chili-Cheese Dog. The Three Little Pigs is served with a side of run of the mill chips.
While these little piggies are super cute, the sausages don't really nestle down in their bun and that makes them difficult to eat.
I love a good reuben sandwich, so I was looking forward to the New York Pastrami Reuben mini dog. It was the first one I tried, and the one that fell on its tail for me. The All-Beef Quarter-Pound Hot Dog is topped with Shaved Pastrami, Swiss, Sauerkraut and Russian Dressing on a House-made Roll.
While it sounds absolutely delicious it was just "meh" in my mouth. The components didn't blend the way a reuben should, there was just a small sprinkle of pastrami bits and without the hearty base from a rye bread it lost any real similarity to the sandwich. The cold slice of Swiss cheese feels more like an afterthought. This is a decent hot dog with sauerkraut, but that's about it.
Next up I sank my teeth into the Texas Chili-Cheese Dog. This little piggy is an All-Beef Quarter-Pound Hot Dog topped with Chili, Cheddar and Corn Chips on a House-made Roll. OK, its hard to go wrong with a dog slathered in chili and cheese. The flavors were all there right up front for this mini treat and I loved the crunch of the corn chips. It was really good, I just wish there had been a touch more chili.
I would order this in the full size version without a second thought.
My surprise favorite was the Hawaiian Island Dog! An All-Beef Quarter-Pound Hot Dog topped with Grilled Pineapple Salsa, Spam and Teriyaki on a House-made Roll. While this was the dog I was least excited to try (Spam scares me) the bright tropical flavors easily won me over. Yes, even the saltiness of the spam pieces worked on this gourmet dog. The Hawaiian Island Dog was a seriously delicious with its sweet and sour teriyaki sauce and pops of fresh fruit.
All in all the Three Little Pigs has an awesome presentation, and the food was pretty tasty. But - good grief were they messy! The trio made for a great snack to share. I'm not sure I would make a special trip to B.B. Wolf's Sausage Co. for a meal. If, however, you are at Disney Springs and have a craving for gourmet hot dogs then B.B. Wolf's Sausage Co. is the place you should go.
