Top Treats to Keep You Cool this Summer at Walt Disney World

Ah, summertime in Orlando. It's hot and humid. We mean, it's like melt-to-the-sidewalk-HOT. Almost unbearably HOT. But...there is a way to keep your cool when visiting Disney World during the summer months. Cold food and drinks! That's right - in addition to finding air conditioning at every chance, you can also cool yourself with some tasty food and drinks.

What's your favorite cool treat at Disney World? What's your favorite cool treat at Disney World?

Ice cream is the ultimate summer treat and at Disney World you'll find so much good ice cream. We love stopping at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in the Magic Kingdom for a scoop or two of ice cream. You'll find some great sundaes there too including the All-American Sundae and the "Mickey Pants Sundae" (a smaller version of the Kitchen Sink.

And this spot is also home to the almost-famous homemade chocolate chip cookie sundae. And you'll want to check out this amazing food hack from our friends at the Disney Food Blog!

Two of our favorite ice cream spots are located near Epcot. We're talking about Beaches and Cream at Disney's Beach Club Resort and Ample Hills Creamery at Disney's BoardWalk.

At Beaches and Cream we're getting the No Way Jose. Bu, if you're feeling really hungry and have a group of friends with you, it's a good idea to order the Kitchen Sink Sundae. Over at Ample Hills Creamery every ice cream flavor is delicious and if you can't choose just one flavor, we recommend ordering the ice cream sampler.

Another must-have ice cream treat is the find-it-just-about-everywhere Mickey Mouse Premium Ice Cream Bar. This cool treat features vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate - shaped like Mickey Mouse, of course. You'll want to eat this one quick on a hot Orlando day as it melts really fast!

No trip to Disney World is complete without enjoying at least one Dole Whip (or Dole Whip Float). You'll find this creamy and cool treat in several spots including Aloha Isle in the Magic Kingdom (look for the new Skull Mug...it's seriously cool!)

You can also find Dole Whip at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's Animal Kingdom (where you can get it topped with RUM!), and there's even a Dole Whip and Rum Smoothie at Disney's Art of Animation.

If you're looking for a grownup treat to keep you cool (other than a Dole Whip topped with rum), we recommend stopping by the France Pavilion in Epcot for a Grand Marnier Slush or a Grey Goose Slush. These icy and boozy drinks hit the spot on a hot summer day (OK, they hit the spot on any day that end in 'y' if we're being totally honest).

If you want ice cream and booze (who doesn't?) check out the ice cream martinis from L'Artisans des Glaces (the ice cream shop in France). They're divine.

If margaritas are more your style, you'll want to check out La Cava in Epcot's Mexico Pavilion. You can enjoy your margarita inside the air conditioned bar or you can get it to go and sip and stroll. And soon (we hope it's very soon) you'll be able to get some great margs at Choza Margarita, a new kiosk set to open in the Mexico pavilion.

And finally there's one more adult beverage that is a must-have on a hot summer day: the Sake Mist from the Kabuki Cafe in Epcot's Japan Pavilion. This icy concoction is made with shaved ice, sake, and flavoring. Some of the flavors that have been available include Blood Orange, Chocolate Cherry, and Coffee.

Of course, if you're looking for something without Sake, you can always order a Kakagori (shaved ice)! Nothing like a bowl of flavored shaved ice to cool you down!

And remember, no matter what you're eating to keep cool at Disney, you'll also want to drink plenty of water! You can ask for FREE ice water at quick service restaurants throughout the theme parks.
