Walt Disney Animation Studios Announces ‘Moana’

The next animated feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios has been announced and it is set in the ancient South Pacific.

Moana is described as a "sweeping CG-animated comedy-adventure about a spirited teenager on an impossible mission to fulfill her ancestors' quest."

The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters in 2016 and is being directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. This directing duo also worked on The Little Mermaid, The Princess and the Frog, and Aladdin.

"Creating 'Moana' is one of the great thrills of our career," Clements said in a press release. "It's a big adventure set in this beautiful world of Oceania."

The film is set in the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania and follows Moana as she sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her journey she meets her hero, the demi-god Maui, and the two encounter sea creates and ancient folklore.

Moana is the 56th feature film for Walt Disney Animation Studios.

I am so excited about this one! After all that Frozen it will be lovely to have a Princess from a tropical isle.
