Researchers with the Disney Research have developed a new video technique that will automatically detect unusual giraffe behaviors at night. The technique was tested by monitoring four giraffes at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.

House Where Walt Disney was Born to be Restored and Preserved

Today in honor of Walt Disney's birthday, WDB Restorations LLC is announcing the groundbreaking on the restoration and preservation of the home where Walt and Roy Disney were born in Chicago.

Chicago's Mayor Rahm Emanuel has proclaimed today to be "Walt Disney Day" in honor of the groundbreaking.

The home, located at 2156 N. Tripp Avenue, was built by Elias Disney in 1893 and was designed by their mother Flora. Elias also built several of the other homes on the street.

Disney Research Invents Microphone That Transmits Sound through Your Fingertips

If you've ever wanted to send someone a secret message simply by touching their ear, Disney Research has come up with a way to do just that.

This new invention - called the Isihin-Denshin - takes the sounds that are spoken into a microphone and transforms it into a low current inaudible signal that is then sent back into the speaker's body. And this is where it gets really sci-fi - when the person who spoke into the microphone touches another person's ear that inaudible signal vibrates in the person's earlobe, recreating sound.

First Masai Giraffe Born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Has a Name Thanks to Disney Parks Blog Fans

Earlier this summer a baby giraffe was born at Disney's Animal Kingdom - the very first Masai giraffe born at the park - and of course he needed a name. Not just any name would suit this little guy, so the Disney Parks Blog set up a contest to have the fans pick a name.

There was a list of names chosen by the animal care team and readers of the blog had a few days to make their picks.

Italy in Epcot: The 'Campanile di San Marco'

Totem Pole in Epcot's Canada

The Canada Pavilion at Walt Disney World's Epcot is home to three native totem poles. Disney says that these totem poles are "authentic examples of Northwestern Native American "family trees." However, the two original poles located in the pavilion towering high in the air are fiberglass and were designed by Imagineers to capture the spirit of the Pacific Northwest.

Epcot's Mitsukoshi Department Store Sake Counter

Tucked away in the very back of the Mitsukoshi Department Store in Epcot's Japan Pavilion is a subtle little bar that's set up for sake tasting. Sake is an alcoholic beverage that's made with fermented rice, and often referred to as "rice wine" even though the process of it's creation is much closer to that of a beer. Sake frequently has an alcohol content between 28%-20%, so it packs a little more punch than your typical beer or wine.

Epcot United Kingdom Pavilion's British Revolution

Since May 2011 the new group, 'British Revolution' has been entertaining guests with the "greatest hits" of British artists from the 70s, 80s and 90s.
