'American Idol' Scotty McCreery Coming to Hollywood Studios

Attention fans of "American Idol": this year's recently crowned winner, Scotty McCreery, will be coming to Disney Hollywood Studios on Memorial Day. The festivities, including a "gala motorcade," will begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow (May 30).

It appears details for the event are still trickling in, but the Disney Parks Blog is reporting Scotty will take a ride with Mickey in a sports car from the park's entrance, down Hollywood Blvd. and ending up near (appropriately enough) the American Idol Experience.

Hollywood Studios Character Meet-and-Greets Delayed

Last month, we told you about new character meet-and-greets coming to Hollywood Studios. We've recently learned a couple of those character greeting opportunities have been pushed back.

First, Phineas and Ferb were originally planned to make the jaunt to Hollywood Studios in mid-May. Due to some confusion about the duo's school schedule (they won't be finished until the end of May), their movie-themed greeting experience will be delayed a few more weeks.

25 Percent Off Dining at Walt Disney World and Disneyland

Who doesn't like saving time and money, especially when it comes to dining at the Disney parks? Back by popular demand is a voucher good for 25% off of select quick-service restaurants at both Disney World and Disneyland during the busy week of April 17-23, 2011.

This week, one of the busiest in the parks, can make for long waits during peak dining times; the voucher encourages diners to eat on "off" or "down" times for lunch and dinner. The fine print? You must purchase an entree and also must eat before 11:30 a.m. for lunch or between 3:00-4:30 p.m. for dinner.

Ridley Pearson Kicking Off 'Kingdom Keepers IV' Book Tour in Downtown Disney

Ridley Pearson will be at Downtown Disney April 4 to kick off a book tour promoting his newest novel "Kingdom Keepers IV: Power Play." After a stop at Disney's Hollywood Studios April 5, the tour brings the author to both coasts as well as points in between.

"Kingdom Keepers IV: Power Play" is the latest installment in the popular young adult series that features teenagers taking on the dark forces lurking around Walt Disney World.

Here's the complete list of dates and places for the upcoming book tour:

With the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World happening in October 2021, this year was always going to be a transformative phase for the Disney Parks in Florida. However, few could have anticipated the roadblocks that would pop up due to the current world climate. It's August and the four main Theme Parks are not only accepting a limited number of guests through the gates again, but refurbishments and construction projects are moving forward.

New Year's Eve is fast approaching one of my favorite parts of a Disney Holiday is they way they light up the night with dazzling fireworks displays. I'm a sucker for things sparkling in the sky with glorious color and you can be sure that if you'll be spending your first night with Disney you'll be treated to just such a show. Lunch at Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano in Disney's Hollywood Studios

Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano has been a table service staple at Disney's Hollywood Studio for decades. Tucked in the far back of the Muppets Courtyard, past 'PizzaRizzo' and 'It's A Wonderful Shop', the brightly colored awning and streamers of overhead flags welcome hungry guests to come inside and enjoy a meal. My son and I recently stopped in to try Mama Melrose's for lunch.
