Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom to Debut in 2012

This bit of news is for those of you who like role-playing games and Disney. Sometime in early 2012, Disney is planning on debuting a new game in the Magic Kingdom called Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.

The adventure will feature Merlin the magician looking to pick out apprentice sorcerers from the park's guests. The new apprentices will then obtain clues and maps to help them defeat Disney villains.

A Bit of Magic Kingdom Food News

For all of you WDW foodies out there, here is some news for you! It looks like there are a few new menu items to be had in the Magic Kingdom, including a Mickey pretzel.

Turns out, the pretzel is already popular at Disneyland and is being tested out at the Magic Kingdom. If you'd like to give the snack a try, head over to the Frontierland Pretzel Wagon (look for it between the Pecos Bill Cafe and the Diamond Horseshoe); at present, this is the only location within WDW to sell this iconic treat.

Night of Joy Artist Lineup Released

Night of Joy, a two-night Christian concert offering in the Magic Kingdom, is coming up in a few short weeks, and now Disney has released the schedule of who will be playing on September 9 and 10.

Enchanted Tiki Room to Open This Month

The Enchanted Tiki Room, a Magic Kingdom attraction that can trace its roots back to the early days of the park, will be opening its doors to guests in less than two weeks.

The Adventureland attraction, which closed earlier this year due to a fire, has been receiving the Disney makeover treatment in preparation for its August 15 opening. Guests taking in the new and improved version of the Tiki Room will be treated to updated and remastered audio as well as a "state of the art show-control system."

Disney Pares Down Monorail Hours

Disney has cut down on its monorail transportation hours this summer in an effort to give more maintenance time to the system.

Guests of Disney need to know that the monorail systems servicing Epcot and the Magic Kingdom will be shut down one hour after the parks' regular closing times. Also, it will remained closed during any of the parks' Extra Magic Hours.

These new hours of operation have already went into effect for Epcot and are set to start August 1 for the Magic Kingdom. Guests can still return to their cars and hotels from the parks via boats and buses.

Tinkerbell To Return to Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom is preparing to welcome back Tinkerbell and her Fairy Friends later this month.

After Toontown closed as part of the ongoing Fantasyland Expansion, Tinkerbell and the Fairies were temporarily moved to Epcot. Now, they have a new place at the Adventureland Veranda in the MK to meet and greet their fans.

Look for Tinkerbell and the Disney Fairies in their new home starting July 28.

No More Flynn Rider at Disney Play-and-Greet

The Magic Kingdom's Tangled play-and-greet is now without a familiar face. Flynn Rider, the hero from "Tangled," had his last day of meeting and greet fans alongside Rapunzel this past weekend.

Rest assured, Rapunzel will still greet guests daily in the Fairytale Garden near Cinderella's Castle. In response to the popularity of the show, the play-and-greet is set to run continously throughout the day to allow more guests to meet Rapunzel. The play-and-greet also features the assistance of Rapunzel's attendants who interact with guests.

4th of July Events at Walt Disney World

It's almost that time of year again for all-things American. As we gear up to celebrate Independence Day, here are some Disney celebration offerings from the happiest place on earth (a.k.a. Walt Disney World).

Head to the Magic Kingdom to see their fireworks extravaganza Disney's Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky. The show is set to run at 9 p.m. both July 3rd and 4th.

Disney Executive Al Weiss To Retire

Al Weiss, the president of worldwide operations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, will be retiring from that role immediately after thirty-nine years of service. The decision was annouced through a letter distributed to Disney employees yesterday afternoon.

Weiss was eigtheen years old when he began his career with Disney as a worker in the Magic Kingdom. Over the years, he's held more than twenty jobs with the company including finance manager and vice president of resort operations support. He also served as president of Disney world from 1994 - 2005.

40th Anniversary Collection by SHAG to Debut This Weekend

Back in January, we gave you a glimpse of the artist SHAG's take on commemorating the 40th anniversary of WDW. Now, the rest of the artist's renderings regarding Disney's 40th will be officially availalbe starting this Friday, June 24. In addition, the artist himself will be making apperances at WDW this weekend to celebrate the debut of the collection.

The Original Space Mountain
