Updates on the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

Registration for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend opened at noon on April 9, and within hours the brand new Walt Disney World 10K was sold out. In addition to the 10K, the Family Fun Run 5K is also sold out. At press time the Dopey Challenge was at 99 percent capacity.

Rachel Booth Wins 2013 Princess 1/2 Marathon

More than 26,000 runners lined up in the dark hours of the morning to participate in the 2013 Princess 1/2 Marathon. A mostly female field came from 34 different countries to share in this amazing and memorable 5th Anniversary race. The youngest runner in the field was a youthful 14 years old; the oldest a spritely 98.

RunDisney Marathon Updates

For all of you Disney marathon enthusiasts, here is an update of what's going on in the world of RunDisney.

First off, Disney sold out of its last remaining individual spots for the upcoming 2011 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon. There are reports that the October 1 event does still have a few slots open for tour operators and charitable organizations.

New Medal for 2012 Disney Marathon Weekend

Runners, lace up your shoes for the 2012 Disney Marathon weekend, which is set for January 5 through January 8. Registration opened up this past week, and runners have several options to choose from.

The Disney Marathon is a 26.2 mile course that winds its way throughout the four parks. Those wanting to participate in the marathon, but not wanting to run the full distance, can pair up with a partner for the Disney Marathon Relay in which each runner will be responsible for 13.1 miles. Both options will share the same course.

2010 Disneyland Marathon Results

The Happiest Place on Earth recently hosted its fifth annual "Happiest Race on Earth." The race, which took place at the Disneyland Resort, had more than 14,000 runners representing all fifty states and sixteen separate countries. A record number of participants made the 13.1 mile journey through two Disneyland Resort theme parks, along Anaheim street and the field of Angel Stadium.

It has been quite an exciting few weeks in the world of runDisney. Race season officially began over Labor Day weekend with the Disneyland Half Marathon and Jimmy Gabrow set a new course record by winning the race in 1:05! Cars Land was the main focus of the weekend beginning with the Cars Land 5K Rally that finished with racers running down Route 66. Half marathoners also had the chance to run through Cars Land on their course, many through a sea of neon in the morning darkness.

runDisney events are increasing in popularity every year. It is so great to see more people adopting a healthy lifestyle in order to participate in these events. Looking Forward to the 2012 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

The summer is flying by and I, along with many of our readers, are looking forward to the fantastic Epcot International Food and Wine Festival! This year is shaping up to be an exciting event with dates ranging from September 28-November 12, 2012. Growing in popularity every year this special event is a must do for anyone who lives to eat. Spectacular arrays of flavors from around the world are showcased in kiosks located around the 1.2 mile World Showcase promenade.

Race Courses: They Can Make or Break You

When I first started running, I never gave much thought to the actual race course itself. I was more concerned about actually finishing the race and not getting swept! (If you're not familiar with being swept, for Disney races you must keep a 16 minute/mile pace on the course or you will get picked up by race officials and taken to the end of the race.) Now as I've done more races, I have become increasingly aware of the course and what challenges it will hold.

runDisney: Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge

During the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, runDisney holds Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge. This is for runners who don't feel like the marathon is enough for them and want to run 39.3 miles in two days. Goofy is the perfect name for this!

Coming in 2013 the Walt Disney World Marathon will be celebrating it's 20th Anniversary Race during a fun filled weekend of activities for all ages. Race weekend (January 10th-13th, 2013) hosts fun events for families to enjoy that stress the importance of physical fitness for every age.
