Disney Begins Development on Live-Action Adaptation of 'Dumbo'

Dumbo is flying back into theaters sometime in the near future.

Disney is reportedly working on a live-action adaptation of the 1941 animation classic that will likely involve a CG animated flying elephant in the title role.

The script is being written by Transformers scribe Ehren Kruger and will reportedly add a new family storyline that parallel's the original story. The film is being produced by Justin Springer (Tron: Legacy) and Kruger.

Disney Nabs Thirteen Academy Award Nominations

Earlier this week, the Oscar nominations were revealed with Disney coming in with a not-too-shabby total of thirteen nods.

It may come as no surprise Disney Pixar's Toy Story 3 leads Disney's nominations with five including Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Song, a nomination in the Sound Editing field, Best Animated Feature and, arguably the top prize, Best Picture.

Disney's "Tron" Comic Book to Follow on the Heels of "Tron: Legacy"

The movie "Tron: Legacy" is set to hit theaters December 17, and Disney's first foray into the world of comic books as owner of Marvel will come after that. A prequel to the movie, "Tron: The Betrayal" is a two-part graphic novel slated to start up where the movie left off.

Execs feel fans won't be disappointed with the new, Disney-owned offering. Tron and Kevin Flynn are said to be reunited, and Tron is to assist Kevin with maintaining order of both the Grid and Encom.
