Navy SEAL Meets Lung Donor's Family at WDW Marathon

A person who's undergone a double lung transplant participating in a marathon is news in and of itself. Over the past weekend, a Navy SEAL did just that - and he also got to meet the family of the teen who made the transplant possible.

Justin Legg, who underwent a double lung transplant in 2010 due to complications from leukemia, ran the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon last Saturday at Walt Disney World. After finishing the 13.1 mile course, he was able to meet and thank the mother of his lung donor. Said Legg:

Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade Taping Coming to Walt Disney World

Many Disney fans tune in their television sets every December 25 for the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade. The celebration of music, floats, Disney characters and Christmas cheer is taped ahead of time in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. While the California tapings have already taken place, Walt Disney World is gearing up for their part in the special which is set to be taped later this month.

At this time, it looks like taping for the parade will happen at the Magic Kingdom Friday, November 30, and Saturday, December 1 (with Sunday, December 2, as a rain date).

News Tidbits: Christmas Party Sells Out & Valet Parking Price Increases

Here are a couple of news tidbits from around Walt Disney World.

First up, those of you who want to take in the first day of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on November 9 but don't have a ticket yet are out of luck. Yes, the November 9 opening date of this year's after-hours holiday bash at the Magic Kingdom is now sold out. Good news: there are still tickets to be had for future dates of the party. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is set to run November 9, 12, 15, 16, 25, 27, 29, and 30; it will also run December 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20 and 21.

Mermaids Swim Into Pirates of the Caribbean Debut

Pirates of the Caribbean, that famous attraction within Walt Disney World, has seen its share of movie-inspired updates throughout more recent years, and that trend continues with the recent debut of the Mermaids of Whitecap Bay (from "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides").

Ten Villains to Catch at WDW This Fall

Halloween fast approaches, and with it comes a surge of popularity for Disney villains. The Disney Parks Blog put together a top ten list of sorts - ten villains for guests to catch up with during this season at the parks. See how many of your favorites made the list!

'Limited Time Magic' Planned for Disney Parks in 2013

Got plans to visit Walt Disney World in 2013? You may want to take note of this: Disney recently announced (with a huge ice castle in New York City's Time Square) they will be adding something called "Limited Time Magic" to their parks next year. Disney describes this new bit of magic as "unexpected experiences with an extra sprinkle of Pixie Dust . . . that'll appear, then disappear when the next debuts."

'Magic Band' on the Horizon for Disney Tickets?

Could an electronic wristband that would replace paper tickets at Disney parks be in the works? Possibly, according to a Disney filing with the Federal Communications Commission.

The report, filed by Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts, is for a "radio-frequency wrist band." The name given to the device on the cover letter sent to the FCC by Disney is "Magic Band."

The "Magic Band" is described in the FCC filing as follows:

And the 2013-2014 Walt Disney World Ambassadors Are . . .

Two people were recently announced as the Walt Disney World Ambassadors for 2013 - 2014 in true Disney fashion - in a ceremony complete with confetti and fanfare.

Cast members Tye Arnold and Rich Tamayo were revealed as Disney's picks for WDW Ambassadors during the recent ceremony at America Gardens Theater in Epcot. The pair were selected after a two-month search for cast members who would "exemplify the talent and excellence of Walt Disney World Resort and demonstrate an understanding of the company's heritage and, above all, Disney passion."

Dates Set for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Disney has recently set the dates for this year's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Yes, you read that right; would you believe this year's Christmas festivities at the Magic Kingdom kick off in little less than a month?

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party is a special, after hours celebration of Christmas at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. There's a special parade, snow on Main Street, Cinderella's Castle decked out in lights and Disney characters in their Christmas finery.

Disney World Bus Route Could Be Cut

Lynx, a bus service in central Florida, is reportedly preparing to cut a Walt Disney World bus route this November.

The route, known as Link 111, currently runs every thirty minutes from the Orlando airport to Walt Disney World with stops along other Disney properties, International Drive, and the Flordia Mall. Under Lynx's new plan, the route would run every hour and provide service to Sea World, the airport and one stop at the Florida Mall.
