18% Gratuity on Tables in Wonderland

So those of you who have one of these almost certainly know that restaurants add an 18% gratuity on automatically if you use the Tables in Wonderland card. I always forget that it's 18% off the original price of the food, so if service was average you're pretty much good to go. You can add on more if they were good. (I have to confess that on this trip at the first restaurant I forgot they auto-added it and so I gave a REALLY good tip by accident. She was a really good waitress so I left a really good tip BEFORE the 18% was added, so she was probably pretty happy.)

What is lame is that some restaurants don't do this. I went to Wolfgang Puck's tonight and the 18% wasn't added automatically. I was sitting there with my sliderule trying to make sure, because our waiter was mediocre at best, but I certainly didn't want to leave him nothing. So definitely check at every restaurant.

I wonder why they do it at some restaurants and not others?

Do you think because WGP is not "disney owned"?

I've been to some Disney restaurants that aren't "disney owned" that DO add the gratuity. Very strange. I wonder if it's up to the restaurant's discretion?

I guess so. That's so odd though.

Brad..do the waiters/waitresses tell you when they've added or not added the gratuity? Or do they just hope you don't noticed and double tip?

I've definitely seen non-Disney places that add the tip automatically. Even bluezoo did. I have no idea why Wolfgang Puck Cafe didn't.

Some of the waiters circle it to let you know. A few even invalidate the tip area, which is actually kind of a problem because I usually want to add a bit more. Most don't say anything though. I don't know if they get a double tip if you forget or not.

If I still had any of my old receipts I'd love to go back and check. I've forgotten more than once.
