40% off resorts prices

So it seems like every time I turn around there is an e-mail offer in my account telling me of 40% disney hotels. We are going to be planning our honeymoon down in Disney, but it won't be until Sept. of 2011. How likely is it that we will be able to get a similar offer when we are ready to book or is it generally offered only a few months out?? I REALLY like the 40% off prices since we are trying to scrimp and save everywhere to be able to afford a wedding and honeymoon without too much fiancing. Any advice or anyone more familiar with how these things work? Thanks!

I am sure you will be able to get some kind of special offer for September. You can go ahead and book without the offer and then if they offer something you simply will have to call and ask for it. I booked a trip for this September at full price, while I am really counting on them offering a discount for passholders. The cast member I spoke to when booking this trip told me to watch for the special offer, note the discount code and then call them. She said that they would then apply any discount to my existing reservations.

Scrappy we kind of do the same thing. If we see something we like better, we just cancel the original one and book the new one. Since there's no fees for cancelling far enough out it's not a problem. We've never actually had to take the "full price" option before. We also do bouce-backs just on the off chance that we decide to go at that time.

Agreed! Just book whatever hotel you want for the dates you want; then, when offers come out (whether by pin code in your email or by general advertisement) you can apply them to your reservation!

Also, to your original question. I think you're pretty safe that some kind of discount will come available when you need it. Especially if you're not too picky about which resort. Do you have an annual pass?

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Disney have said they want to try and reduce the number of discounts and offers as the economy improves. There may still be offers available, but not as good as the current ones.

Good point about being picky about resort. Usually, you can find an all-stars or a Saratoga Springs room last minute for a great price. Also, the Swan and Dolphin have some good rates... And the holiday inn disney world!

I read that too. Of course in the last few years they've been throwing discounts in every direction to try to compensate for the economy. Even going back before 2008 I think it was still pretty easy to get a 40%-ish discount if you were watching ahead.

I wonder if they'll continue the free dining in 2011 -- that was a HUGE discount for folks who didn't have APs or other discount options.
