Agents of Shield Season 2

************SPOILER ALERT************

If you haven't seen it, or don't want to know what happened, don't read any further!

OK, who saw the premier of Season 2 last night? It was absorbing!!! (pun intended).

But more than that, how many of you realized that the series pulled a "A Sixth Sense" on all of us with regards to Fitz and Simmons? When I finally heard what Coulson said about Simmons, I couldn't help but yelled "they pulled a Sixth Sense on us!!!"

God, it was fun!

Smile

I felt like I was missing something the entire time with that. Not at all happy about that whole thing BTW, she needs to get her butt back.

"She" as in Simmons?

She's still on the show, and if last season is any indication, things are not what they appear. I expect a lot more twists and turns in the upcoming episodes.

BTW, there might be something else that many, if not most, of us missed in the season premier. I certainly did, because this is one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment. EW website has a description of it.

Quote:
Moments prior, however, Dum Dum Dugan (Neal McDonough) takes a peek inside a different box before Carter quickly closes it. If you look closely, we got a blink-and-you'd-miss-it look at what appears to be a blue alien within the box. Could this be the very same blue alien that eventually brought Coulson (Clark Gregg) back to life? And will we see this box again?

Don't forget, Sky was given the same thing, wasn't she? And speaking of Sky, there is still that open question about her parents. I have a feeling that many of these things are interconnected.

We watched it, the FitzSimmons thing blew my mind! I was so tired last night and there were so many new people I couldn't keep up. I will watch it again sometime this weekend and check out that "other box"!!!

Yes - Coulson just said Simmons left, right? Simmons needs to come back, regardless of the actress still being on the show. I don't know that I care for the whole mental break plot. We'll see.

Ooooo... I had missed that second box.

Coulson said that Simmons felt being around Fitz would hamper his recovery which turned out to be the opposite, so she's gone on leave. It's not a mental breakdown but rather a direct result of him being underwater all that time to give Simmons a chance to save them both. He's clearly still in there somewhere otherwise he wouldn't even be able to do half the stuff he's still doing, but he will need time to recover himself - or they'll find a macguffin and he'll be fine next week!

Did people watch last night's episode?

While the tie in to Age of Ultron is intriguing, I must say that it isn't as clever and as intricate as when they made the tie-in with Capt. America - Winter Soldier. I thought the interweaving between that movie and SHIELD on what happened to Nick Fury was quite clever. No such luck in last night's episode with Age of Ultron. It will be interesting to see next week's episode in the aftermath of what happened in Age of Ultron.

BTW, for those regions of the world that already had Age of Ultron premier last week, do you guys get Agents of Shield as well? And if you do, is it also in synch so that the timing matches the release of the movie the way we get them here in the States?

Unfortunately, we didn't get the Ultron tie-in before the movie opened here, mostly due to having to adhere to US breaks, so we weren't allowed to get ahead of you guys! Tongue Last year's tie-in to Captain America was in sync.

When the US goes on a break, it gives us a chance to catch up but then we're also subject to the same breaks after that. The only show we're on a par with is Game of Thrones. It airs at 2am for those who can't wait, so matching your East Coast air time, but generally goes to air for normal people at 9pm the night after.

Really? I thought that they had done a great job of "prepping" for the movie over the past few episodes and got several little nods to coming things. There's been the whole building with the inhumans, the nod to the twins and what's they've been going through re: experimentation, the reveal to SHIELD that Fury is alive, and then finally the bit at the end with Raina's vision.

I wasn't planning on seeing Avengers this weekend (I was going in a couple of weeks), but after seeing that episode I decided that I had too in order to watch things "in order" so I can watch SHIELD next week. That's pretty slick marketing if you ask me.

But it is more of a passive tie-in.

Compare that to what happened with Winter Soldier, where the action actually started in SHIELD series, went over to Winter Soldier, SHIELD got destroyed, and then it continued into the SHIELD series. You will miss the entire scenario with Nick Fury if you did not see both the movie and the TV series.

I expect ramifications from the movie will be on display in next week's episode, but otherwise, the TV series doesn't play much of a role in the Ultron movie. Josh Whedon even insisted that for Ultron, Coulson will remain "dead" to the Avengers, which I find is hard to believe since he's in contact with someone connected to the Stark Industry in the last episode.

Joss has been trying to extricate himself from the creation of Shield saying that it doesn't exist in the same universe as the movies. He says the studio shot themselves in the foot by creating a Shield show only to bring Shield down in the movies, but I think it has done well - they show Shield at its strongest and progressively getting weaker as the organisation is brought down. Now with the way things progress in the movie, it also reflects in the TV show.

I think the ramifications will be more last episode than immediately after, but then I've seen the movie already so have to wait for the show to catch up!

I hope those of you in the States saw the finale tonight. It was a rear-kickin' episode. I will never complain about a broken fingernail anymore! laugh

Easily the best SHIELD episode ever! And now, I need to get my fish oil tablets.

No don't say anymore we are behind here. Love SHIELD the second series is so much better. Now if we could only get Agent Carter I would be happy

The season finale was good - the last 4 episodes which tie into Ultron have made it worth the hard slog through the whole Inhuman arc that's dominated this season.

Sally-Ann, Agent Carter was also good...it's a bit of a mystery as to why it wasn't picked up for broadcast at the time but it might be coming soon - 8 episodes is a bit of a short show to plugin somewhere, perhaps?

Anyway, good to hear both Shield and Agent Carter have been picked up for new seasons...

OOOOOOOUCH!!!! Yea, that made me queesy! Our plan was to watch the first hour last night and the rest tonight. I was EXHAUSTED but we couldn't stop watching. I still need to see AoU. I don't go to theaters if there is even a slight risk there will be tons of people there (I get the heebie geebies lol) So hopefully next week on my day off. I'm interested in how it plays into each other....

I haven't figured it out yet. I get antsy in Target on Tuesday mornings. Disney calms me somehow... it is so weird.
