Hi I'm Karen

I'm from the UK (north part)
I live with my husband (Andrew) and son (Paul who's twelve)

We've been lucky enough to holiday in Orlando a few times and cruise once in the Bahamas and once in Europe
We've tried quite a few hotels and can't wait 'tip next time

I am lucky to be going again in three weeks to celebrate a friend 50th birthday (there's 3 of us travelling)
Apart from missing my son so so much I am really looking forward to our five night trip staying at Port Orleans FQ
My friends have never been to Florida before and I'm so excited to show them all the parks - tour guide Barbie or what!!

Not been looking at the post on here yet so will take a sneaky peek now - I'm sure you'll be a friendly bunch

Xx mickey xX

wow my favourites - where do you start

My first visit was 1997 age 30 ish!!
I visited with my parents, brother & his girlfriend. We hired a villa for 3 weeks and only had a five day pass

Jump five years and I returned with the same people but an addition of hubby son (aged 2) and niece (aged 3)
We stayed at St Pete's for a week then two weeks atDisney's All Star Movies
We have been lucky to go most years since and have stayed as Disney
The only hotels we haven't stayed Are Wilderness/Pop/Animation/Caribean

My favourite hotel is The Contemporary (only had three nights there before cruise) and I can't wait to stay again but it might be a while before we do

I love the Studios as you walk in and my favourite ride is Tower of Terror and Rock n Rollercoaster
I love Magic Kingdom too as there's so much to do including the shopping - it's a girl thing!!
My sons favourite is Animal Kindom so we go there a lot for him - as it's usually hot we move on after lunch to cool down
I love EPCOT again as there's so much to do and I don't think we've done it all yet - still discovering nooks & crannies especially as Paul is growing up!
The water parks are great for me to relax (when we find a nice area to sit) while the boys run off for a bit - we then do all the rides together with a double dose of the lazy river

I am on a big countdown to 24th Jan when I go with my friends as it will be so different staying out late for ALL the extra magic hours when we normally get back reasonable
I've stayed at Port Orleans before and chose FQ this time as its smaller and only one bus stop!!

I haven't had a night out at Downtown Disney for such a long time so hope there's a few bars/clubs still there for me to show the girls
Lots to cram in and I have looked to see what magic hours are so will try work round that too
Hoping to treat them to Chef Mickey's too but can't get in so will have to walk in and wait - I'm sure they'll love it and we haven't done it for a while so I will too

Hope that gives you a bit of an insight !!
Don't normally talk much about myself so its weird
It does help me realise how luck I have been and whenever we go I still comment on this to my family
We work hard for our holidays but I still feel like the luckiest girl in the world whilst there - even at my age!!

Tour Guide Barbie! Love it!!

Welcome to the Boards...I hope you'll find everyone friendly and welcoming...that's par for the course around here!

What a wonderful birthday event across the pond...y'all are going to have a wonderful time! They're super lucky to have someone who's been and knows her way around to be able to show them the ropes! A Grown-Up Visit is going to be completely different and completely fun! I know you'll miss your kiddo, but you'll be making some awesome memories!

Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!

Cant believe I haven't found the forum before really 'cos I've 'liked' it on Facebook for some time - hope I don't become too addicted
I've found it now though clapping

Emma - I'm from Leeds (living just outside now)

Yes it's a great way to spend a birthday and Loraine who's birthday it is probably never go again. We went to Paris for her 40th (blimey ten years ago) and we have been saving PS5 per month since to go back. She was absolutely thrilled when I said we'd go to Florida instead!! Because we have dining plan included we are staying five nights which is a little longer than planned but why not eh!! (Will miss my son that's the only problem)

And yes, I hope to keep you informed - might have to sleep for a week on arrival home!!

So fun!!

I gotta know what "PS5 per month" means! I love learning new phrases from other countries!

Pounds Shillings 5 per month?

Playstation 5 per month?

Plenty Sillystring 5?

Ha!

So glad you're here with us now and not just a Facebook friend! Smile

Oh Nancy you made me chuckle laugh - I'm sure it will be the first of many 'little' errors!!
It's PS5 (five English pounds) - we did increase in to ten after about six years so it has just about paid for it!!

Well - I've been and am now back. Had a fabulous time and my friends loved it (one is taking her partner bak next jan)
Set off Thursday having champagne and cookies for breakfast in the airport (cork hitting the 60 foot ceiling!)
Great flight and arrived on time - just over eight hours later!
Quick check-in and bite to eat then straight to MK as closing was 9pm - did tomorrow land before heading back (our body clock told us 330am when getting to bed)
Up early arriving at MK for opening (no extra magic hours today -am) then headed for Epcot for EMA at Epcot - loving the new test track but strange at first
Saturday EMA Hollywood Studios - the main thing was Toy Story Mania so FP that for later. Did mainly everything (except Lights Camera Action as we have all seen it in Paris) and of course you can never have too many goes on Tower of Terror or Rock n Rollercoaster !! Evening we got the boat to the Boardwalk - sharing pizza and a glass of sangria. Headed to Epcot for cider in the UK then a few quiet rides before heading back
Sunday was boat tide from Fench Quarter to Downtown Disney then taxi to Premium Outlets - didn't have too long shopping before back to DD to do the balloon - unfortunately it was too windy. Settled for lunch at Planet Hollywood - was yum. Dropped off the bags and headed for MK extra magic hours
Monday was a full day at Animal Kingdon arriving for EMA at 8am. (usually too hot and humid so it was great to be there so long) we did almost everything! Rapids were closed thoug which I didn't know until we got there. The safari was great as the three lions were very visible first time around so got great photos. On to the Studios for EMA in the dark - lovely evening
Tuesday having packed we made it to Magic Kingdom for opening and did so much as it was so quiet. We did lots of characters too which was a bonus! We had until 145pm then headed back to get the Magical Express to Orlando International
We had a fantastic time but very tiring and some aching feet. It was nice to get back to my family as its the first time I've not been with them and it was a very different experience - loved it
Now - how long before my next trip!!
Hoping summer 2014 with the in-laws who haven't been yet - better start planning soon - my son can't wait to go with his cousins

Karen, what a SUPER FUN trip...your friend will never, ever forget her 50th birthday!!

How did the cider in Epcot compare with the cider from your neighborhood pub?

Yeah - a great trip shell treasure as her kids are grown up and to be honest she never thought she'd get to Florida as we were originally going to Paris (as for her fortieth)

The cider was lovely - very chilled as it should be! Only problem was I hadn't drunk mine by the time we got to the exit so I got stopped (never thought about it at the time) so, had to stay on site until plastic glass was empty!!

I do wish we'd had more time to look round the World Showcase but he ho - we did a lot in the time we had and they both loved everything we did yay yay
