Any favorite water park "spots?"

I know some friends of ours have a "spot" that they try to get every time they go to Typhoon Lagoon. Do you guys have any recommended locations to set up camp at the water parks?

We're always looking for shade - and we usually don't have a hard time finding it. They have those little shelters, and there are so many nice trees at TL. I think the last time we were there, we were over to the right, under shade trees and with sand underfoot. Nice!

On a related note, how many of us have never even been to a water park?

Blizzard Beach when I was like 12.... havent been since. Just cant drop the extra money for it when most of the pools at the resorts are almost just as nice.

I've never been to a WDW water park or ANY water park for that matter! I live in the San Fernando Valley out here in Los Angeles and I'm about 20 min from Six Flags Magic Mountain/Hurricane Harbor--never been there. And about 40 min from Raging Waters--never been there.

Incidentally, I live about 15 min from Universal Studios Hollywood and I've only been there once in my life--when BACKDRAFT was the newest attraction! lol I just cant get myself to pay for a theme park that ISNT Disney!

I've been to both several times - loved them. It's a great way to take a break from the parks imo (if you want a break from the parks, that is.) The theming is amazing, they're very clean and well attended by life guards, and I could literally float around on the Lazy Rivers all day if it weren't for my kiddoes not understanding the concepts of "lazy river" and "relaxation."

I LOVE the water slides at Blizzard Beach!! They're so fun!!

And I HATE that shark tank at Typhoon Lagoon...water's too cold, tank is too deep and I can't stand anything plugging my nose (yes, snorkeling is a huge NO NO, too bad I only found that out while attempting the Shark Reef). Besides the tank you have the wave pool, which is ok, and Crush 'n Gusher, which is nice...but all in all, I'd still go to Blizzard Beach. Gotta love those mat slides...

I've never been to a Disney Waterpark. In general I'm not really a fan of water parks..I don't know why just something about all those people and that water..creeps me out.

Don't worry though, that's just me. I saw a bunch of people having fun...

And Bella, I for one know what makes me feel weird about water parks: Bathing suits mad

It can be fun...but it IS cold. It depends on how many people there are. The times I've been, it's been really crowded, so they basically make you swim straight across. But if it's not crowded, I hear you have time to look around a bit more.

IMO, neither is better, just different. Noturna is right - the slides are fun at Blizzard Beach, and the ski lift is so awesome! But there are some good slides at TL too. For us, TL holds a slight edge because all of the snow theming at BB can be really, really blinding on a very sunny day. And I suspect all that bouncy sunlight probably isn't great for you. On the other hand, with the tropical theming, TL seems to be a little more tree covered to us.

I just don't think you can go wrong. They are SO fun. And I'm not svelte, but I just put on one of my sportier bathing suits (i.e. made more for swimming, not for just lying around looking pretty, and so a little more "sucks everything in") and I go for it. I'm not going to how I look in a bathing suit ruin my day...but that may just be the wisdom of 40 Smile
