Any recommendations for vegetarians?

Hello! Does anyone know of any restaurants in WDW that are particualrly good for vegetarian food? (preferably not the most expensive restaurants because my boyfriend and I are on a budget). I'll look through the menus of restaurants that I can find online to see but there are so many to look through! Does anyone know the sit-down places will adjust things on their menu to make them suitable for vegetarians? There are a couple of restaurants I would really like to try but they either have no veg main meal, or just have 1 rather unappealing looking choice!

Hi Peg - www.disneyfoodblog.com is a GREAT resource for all things food related, including special dietary needs. If you tab down on the right side of the page, there's a link for "gluten free, vegetarian, and other special diets in Disney." The page that you go to includes best vegetarian options, as well as some vegan options. There are also contact numbers listed here for special diet considerations at WDW.

My experience is that every restaurant has at least one vegetarian option and one sugar-free dessert option, and at least most sit-down places will pretty much accomodate you if they can. Are you using the Disney Dining Plan?

No we aren't doing the Dining Plan - neither the quick service or normal dining plan were quite right for us. We would have needed a dining plan somewhere between the two!

Thanks for the suggestion though. I'll have a look to help me decide where to get a few ADRs when the time comes.

Also, how do people get those disney holiday countdown things from underneath their posts??

Here is a great resource:

I would think buffets would be your best option since there are a wide variety. I'm not a vegetarian but more often than not I prefer food that doesn't include meat..and I'll admit Disney isn't exactly a vegetarian friendly place..most places offer at least one meal without meat but honestly I've only had one meal sans meat at the World that was worth getting all excited about (the pasta at Olivia's). I love Boma, which was a suggestion from the DFB, and they had lot of good entrees.

Only problem with the buffets is that you don't have a server to help you figure out if they've hidden any meat in the food. A lot of products you would think were animal-free turn out not to be.

Table service always seems to be the best bet for any special needs diets. The chef will always work with you. If I was a vegan/gluten free I'd eat at WDW all the time. So much better options than most places.

You can always call the disney Special Diets line in advance and let them know that you'll be dining as a vegetarian. They should be able to help you out. http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/disney-dining-references/#SpecialDiets

Sit down meals would be your best bet for vegetarian. Vegetarians would probably have a heart attack if they ever went into a restaurant kitchen
