Any tips for noisy neighbors?

We were staying at a non-Disney hotel recently and had noisy neighbors. We just sort of accepted it and gritted our teeth. What do you do when the people next door are being loud and you need to sleep?

Fortunately, I've never had to deal with noise from the next room, but if it was bad enough I'd probably just call reception. An arguement at their room door about noise isn't going to help you sleep much.

That's the WORST. And you never notice it until midnight when you're trying to sleep. There's just nothing you can do except call the front desk as Tony said. Maybe try to move rooms?

OR, bring along ear plugs for sleeping...but then you won't hear your alarm.

We've been pretty lucky and never experienced really noisy neighbors.

But, I take a pair of earplugs with me on every trip, and always turn on the A/C or the room fan when we go to bed, which helps whether it's too noisy or too quiet.

I think it really depends on where you stay. Value resorts seem to have much thinner walls! Also, when you're in a room that adjoins to another room, it can be noisier.

I was told you're supposed to bang on the wall and go "Hey! Keep it down in there!!!" silly

Should I try that?

Turn up the volume really loud on the TV...we had that once at WDW and it was awful..someone was screaming at 6 am in our room at POP..loud because the rooms were adjoining..but turning the tv up proved a point!

One problem in hotels is it's sometimes hard to figure out who's actually making the noise. In an apartment I'd just go ask them to keep it down, but sometimes I'm not sure who's making the noise.

I'm the type of guy that would walk over and bum a beer and join the party. But my wife would probably just tell me to call the front desk.
