The Aromas At WDW...

Good Morning Everyone...One of my favourite things to do ( excuse me if this sounds really daft ) is close my eyes, and take a deep breath and smell the air around me on holiday..Example..On my last trip whilst staying at PORS, I got up one morning, way too early, around 5.30am..I tiptoed out of our room at the Mansion buildings and walked down to the edge of the old Sassagoula river..I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and I could swear my nostril senses were picking up orange blossom and sweet magnolias.. yay ...But my all time favourite is walking into the candy shop on Main Street USA..While my DW and DS are launching goodies into their basket, I stand fir a moment, eyes closed, ( wearing sunglasses ) and take a deep intake..Ahh gaah The aromas of candy, chocolate, and cinnamon fill my head...OMG..It's awesome..Do do any of yourself's have this fad that I have.?..Or am i alone in this weird " eyes closed and smell " scenario ... sad

I don't usually do that, however there are a couple of smells that do remind me of Disney and it always makes me smile when I come across them by surprise at home.

The first one is the smell that occurs in the summer after an overnight rain. It's a deep earthy smell that reminds me of mornings in Walt Disney World. The second, is actually the smell of a car's air conditioner just starting up on a humid morning (I know it's weird) but that always reminds me of the monorail. Both of those scents are pretty fleating and rare where I live, but they always make me happy.

My husband swears he can smell the bakery when he clears the railroad overpass at MK. He's probably right, but he is a sugar-a-holic and is probably just smelling the candy store.
I love the smells that waft out of the French bakery in Epcot too.
While we tend to stay away from burgers and fries there is a draw when you walk by certain places that says, "You're not really full...You have room for more..." sarcastic

But for me the real draw is the roses. No matter the park, if there is a garden of roses, they call to smell. We have thousands of pics from our trips and an alarming number are of the rose beds at one of the parks. So here, when the smell of roses becomes strong, the pull to go back NOW is even stronger.

I do the same thing King. Everytime. It just make me happy. And then when you're at home and you smell a smell somewhere that smells just like something in Disney its just a wonderful feeling.

Totally agree Honey...( that sounds funny lol ) Anyway...I think Disney should do a air freshened gadget that sprays out something that reminds you of WDW...Every time you walk past it, the RFID chip automatically fires off a scent...

On the DISunplugged podcast last week, Pete talked about this product called Citrus Magic (Tropical Citrus Blend flavor) that smells like the oranges from Soarin' So of course I ordered a bottle and I have to agree. It is pretty darn close. SO now I can just close my eyes, hum the music, and be on Soarin!

And who makes this wonder spray? Our cats don't like citrus scents (well they don't like citrus at all) but they can hang somewhere else where I can have a flashback......

Cheers Alicemouse...You've just gave me a great idea...I'am gonna write down my favourite aromas ( smells ) from WDW and create my own...Example..We have a shop in town that sells bottles of various scents, like pine..apple cinnamon ...oranges..etc..I'am gonna visit it later...Then while I'am relaxing in my hot tub, well ok, my bath, with my candles burning,I'll spray some apple cinnamon and dream I'am at Mickeys Philharmagic..Spray some pine & oranges and it's Soarin.' ...That's it..I'am losing the plot.. waiting

My DW and I just got back on Sunday. I have to say my favorite smell from WDW that is definitely reocurring throughout the property is a warm-buttery-cinnimon smell that I think was eminating from various roasted pecan stands. Not really sure, I never actually ate whatever the smell was from.

I am hooked on the H2O products we get at the resorts. I hoard the soaps for home and use them to take me back to staying at a WDW resort. I keep eying the lotion, sea salt scent for a souvenir - have not bought it yet. mickey

To me, smelling good food is almost as good as eating it. So if I'm wandering the World Showcase stuffed to the gills because I just ate at Biergarten or at half a dozen Food and Wine booths, I can still enjoy the aromas of all the other restaurants or food stands. Passing a cinnamon nut stand, or an ice cream place that has good waffle cones, or even a popcorn stand is just as nice. And back home in the junk food capital of the world, I can smell pretzels and potato chips almost every time I go shopping. Yum!

I admit I don't take the time to smell the roses so to speak. But on Soarin with the oranges and the always prevalent but polarizing smell of a turkey leg...yeah, my nose can't ignore that.

"But sometimes I like to close my eyes and imagine what it'll be like when summer does come. Bees'll buzz, kids'll blow dandelion fuzz..."

Oh whoops. I'm a bit obsessed with Frozen. We're talking about smells here, right?

Well, I like the smell of the Florida water and that skunk in Imagination and the stinkbug in It's Tough to be a Bug... sarcastic

...

The confectionery has the best smell. Love walking through there. Also love the smells on Soarin' and the Be Our Guest scene of Mickey's Philhar Magic

I appreciate the smells at Disney! I really noticed how much of an impact it had on my last trip in February. Let me tell you, after getting up at 2:30 AM to run a half marathon you appreciate the smell of coffee from the Fountain View as you run past! laugh

I Love all different smells in Disney however as I was sorting through some stuff from our last visit in September last year I found a bag with little things I had picked up - maps, times guides etc and when I opened the bag I turned to my mother and said "this bag smells like Disney?" now I can't explain the smell but the image I got in my head was Main street USA and it was as if I was there!!!!!
