Best time of year to buy DVC?

OK folks, I am getting really seriously interested in this DVC thing. I see a promotion going now, different from those extra points offered a few months back. So when does the new year's pricing come out, and when in your experience is it the best time to snag a good promotion?

It really helps when there is a new DVC Resort. When we bought into AKL... they were also selling Bay Lake Tower. We found out that any deal was a good deal, but what you need to try to do is to get the previous years points. Its been a while... but the time we bought we were about to get the previous years points as well. So by the time we went... we had double the amount of points. So we have had 420 points almost every year. Now... its depleting a bit every year because we just pick a date and go. We dont look at when the best time to use the points would be. But were still around an extra 180 points every year. So were still sitting pretty. But if your able to get the previous years points included with your discount... then it is soooooo worth it. But they were dealing with AKL at the time. Trying to get rid of them.

Thanks Mace! The online info says they are offering a special on AKL right now through January...$5 off of each point, up to $800 for 160 pts. Also offering a $500 Disney gift card as well. You own in AKL, no?

Yup! AKL is our home resort and we love it. They have the best point value for rooms than any of the other places. Kidani has TONS of DVC rooms if I remember right... and Jambo... all of the 4th floor is DVC I believe... if not 3/4ths. But yeah... to be able to at least pick that place first, and then everywhere else 6 months out is worth it just because how much cheaper in points it is to stay there. Plus AKL has some of the best restaurants as well in my opinion.

We just bought at AKL!!!! We got the buy 100 points get 10 free. We only bought 100 but plan on buying more next year. Can't wait to go in April!! We really like AKL because it is more isolated from the parks and it doesn't seem to be as busy plus it is such a beautiful place to stay! We were blown away the first time we walked into Jambo house. We went for dinner there and just the lobby made us want to stay.

But don't buy just because of any perk, they can and do go away at times.

I am thinking that it will be AKL for me too. I plan to tour when down there in a few days (!!!!). The promo now is $5 off of each point, and a $500 gift card. We will see if I get offered anything different on site....

I too loved AKL. So laid back. I also like the value - lots of bang for the buck in exchanging.
