Best World Showcase Architecture

As a spin off of the favorite World Showcase pavilion topic I thought we'd just discuss just the architecture and buildings. Which of the World Showcase pavilions do you think has the prettiest buildings?

I'm having trouble deciding but I'm kind of leaning towards Morocco. I think that might be an unpopular pick though. What about you guys?

I would go with Mexico. The pyramid is incredibly impressive and the inside always just amazes with the SIZE of it.

Do the grounds in Canada count? The gardens and just the entire pavilion is beautiful.

The gardens at Canada are stunning, but I think I lean towards Morocco too.

Morocco always amazes me. I always feel like I could just get lost there -- it's like a maze. But I also love the replication of the dojo's palace in Italy. So interesting that it's actually a mirror image of the actual palace!

Also really like the Stave Church in Norway.

Just to be a bit different, I'll vote for the Japan pavilion. I think it's just so striking. Clean lines, strong buildings, and the "sentinels" on their horses are beautiful.

Canada really is nice. I have to agree that the amount of space they've gotten under that pyramid in Mexico is probably the most impressive feature of the WS.

Morocco is just so intricate. I'm always amazed when I see those carvings on the wall in pictures of the real place.

I don't think there are any real losers in the bunch. Is there a pavilion you guys think needs improvement?

Other than Maelstrom, I don't really get Norway. I'm not sure I get why it's included vs. some other countries that AREN'T there.

I also kind of think the American pavilion is kind of blah, especially compared to the ones immediately around it. This isn't architectural, but the show is SO white-washed it's almost come around the back side of offensive again.

I agree that it's kind of blah. But isn't it the only one that uses reverse perspective (the windows at the top are bigger than the ones at the bottom?) or is that on main street?

Nopers, that technique is used all over the Disney properties. Used in most counties in World Showcase including notably Morocco and Mexico. Most all the replica-style buildings in the parks use forced perspective; the best examples being the Castles at 'Disneyland' parks (MK, DL, DLP, etc.).

You can find lots of information on the interweb about how Disney uses forced perspective, but here's a simple explanation.

I love Norway, but maybe it's because I always like fantasy B-movies when I was a kid. It looks like the set of a fantasy movie!

Even if it's not that authentic, I really love getting a taste (in more ways than one) of all the different countries and cultures represented at WS. Just walking around, drinking in all the visuals is a good time for me.

I've recently explored the China pavilion, and I really think it gets a bum rap a lot of the time. It's incredibly interesting.

Is America the least interesting pavilion? I do like the little mini-museum in the American Adventure.

It's definitely in the running. China doesn't do much for me either.
