Big Deal..Your going to Disney...

Good Morning People...This made me chuckle yesterday.. I met old friends yesterday that I've haven't seen for a couple of years ( old workmates ) and I was asked if we were going anywhere nice this year on holiday, I told them we are heading back to Crete, after a eight year absence, but we are really all hyped up about our 2016 vacation as we are heading back ( once more ) to WDW in Florida..I could tell by their faces they just didn't get it...Now I know I've mentioned similar threads in the past about friends you have that just don't understand our love of Disney...But here's my question on this subject to all of you out there... How big a deal is it to you when you decide to return to WDW..?..For ourselves we thought that 2014 was going to be our final farewell, due to lots of different stuff..So when we booked our 7th Disney vacation last month for next year, put our deposit down for our resort, and paid our flights up front, we sat down that night as a family, and watched last years trip vacation ( I'm gonna have to stop narrating during filming, sounds like a documentary ) But it still hasn't sunk in..To me it's a huge big deal..Not really the expense side of things, just the fact we are going to a place that some people only dream of going to..For us our first trip in 2004 was awesome, we never knew what to expect, no planning done what so ever..We thought it would be a one off..Now it's become a two yearly pilgrimage...So how much a big deal is it for yourself's when you realise you are heading back to Disney, or in fact, maybe going for the first time.?..To us, it's a huge deal... mickey

It's a huge bleeping deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The excitement sets in the day my dh says start thinking about another trip and starts to feel real when he say get out the calendar and lets start planning exactly when. We like you try and go every other year. My dh banks vacation days and we like going for a 2 week road trip adventure. Seeing we missed a year, we're going all out and adding in another week including a stop over at UNI to mostly see the Potter stuff. This trip is also going to be a big deal because my youngest has already asked for an autograph book for Christmas, it might be his last time doing so as he will be 14 when we go. He's also asked to eat at CP again it might be the last time he gets excited about that, except for the all you can eat part. But he's announced no more princess M&G, he doesn't know it yet but I'll get at least one more for my blackmail files LOL. The food, the sights and just the wonderful aroma makes all of the expense worth while. One of my favorite perks is my boys do their chores with hardly a reminder from the day the calendar comes out and they don't even look at each other funny the whole trip. Big deal is just to subtle a way to describe our feeling. Some of our friends and family just don't get but that's their problem!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers

It's always a huge deal for us. Well, mostly me, but Joe is slowly coming around. Now that we are DVC owners, I think I am going to be more excited as far as new experiences go. Staying in AKL, watching the animals, enjoying the pools (I normally am go go go since who knows when we will be back) checking out TotWL, taking a few no park days.

I love all the planning that goes into it also. We just returned from a short weekend to Florida (not Disney) and we are going to Atlanta this weekend. After that, my calendar is wide open and I can really get to work on our Sept and Nov trips. I also have to break the news to my parents this weekend that we will be going to Disney for Thanksgiving. While T'giving is usually not a huge deal for us, I'm not sure how they will take it. At least it gives them time to book if they want to come along laugh

And I agree Figgy, who cares if those certain family and friends don't get it, that is their problem and I am gonna keep on doing what makes us happy!

It's a very big deal! Non-Disney fans do not understand the magical place WDW is to us. For me, it's like traveling back in time, to a better place & time.

I've been visiting the parks since the late seventies. Today, I am just as content to walk around & enjoy the atmosphere as I would be on the Carousel of Progress (as I did when my kids were toddlers) mickey and compare just how much progress and time has gone by.

Planning, making reservations, the countdown, packing, or just researching on the web for what's new at WDW, it's all part of the magic.

We've lost track of how many times we've been to WDW, but I know it's over what Disney Corp tracks. We purchased our first DVC points in 1993 (back when they offered free access in to the parks for staying at your DVC resort), and we took every opportunity to visit our "home away from home" pillowfight , yep, my kids grew up there.

As you've all mentioned, who cares what friends and family think, they just don't get it, it's their loss.

It is a very big deal for us, too! Every trip is a new adventure and the excitement just builds as we get closer! The feeling of being care-free just can't be matched anyplace else. All of the planning and packing, the countdown - its magical to feel like a kid. I feel sorry for people who don't have a happy place.

The first time we went to WDW was huge for me. My Dad had taken us to Disneyland many times when I was growing up, and we had so much fun. It was an adventure for kids growing up in Northwestern Ontario, that's for sure. When our son was 12, I persuaded my doubtful husband to go to WDW, something I thought we would never be able to do. Both he and my son were sceptical about how much they would enjoy it, and I couldn't wait to prove them wrong. Walking into the MK and seeing their faces as we walked down Main Street is one of my favourite memories.

We've done many trips since, some with our son, and lately just us wheelchair . Every trip is different, but always a blast. I still get just as excited as I did when I was a kid. I love travelling to other places too, but our Disney trips are always special. Our son is already talking about new family trips with grandchildren, and those grandchildren aren't even here yet! laugh

It is a huge deal to me!!! My husband laid down the law last trip and said no more WDW until 2016, so when he told me in February to start planning this year's trip I was so excited. clapping clapping clapping

I do have friends that ask me why we do not go somewhere else, and I tell them that is where I want to go. I hope to convince my husband to let me plan a trip every year! 2017, though, will be a non-Disney year because we are planning a trip to Ireland, England and Scotland for our anniversary. I am excited for that also, but, for me, WDW is my favorite vacation spot, and I do not let other people make me feel otherwise. mickey

I only get to go every 7 years so it's a HUGE deal for me! So many things change between trips that it's practically a brand new experience every time we go. The next time I go won't be until 2021, but I'm already looking forward to it.

It's a pretty big deal as long as I have new things to look forward to doing. Staying at a different resort, new rides and attractions, eating at new restaurants and doing new experiences. Since I only go if there's new things of my own interest at Disney anyway and don't go every year, it gives time to prevent Disney overkill.

Going is always a huge deal for us! We find something new to do, see or try every time we go. For example, just saw yesterday I saw an article that says you can buy Moonshine in Epcot yay That is a definite stop for us next trip .....we have to try it and see if it is up to the standard that we have around here Smile

Even as locals, every single day we spend in Disney is a big deal for us. It's our absolute favorite way to spend our weekends.

It's a huge deal for my family. We've only been going for a few years, and now every extra penny goes into our Disney account. All of our day to day worries and stresses disappear as soon as we board the plane in Baltimore. The giddy feeling of pure joy kicks in as soon as we step onto a magical express bus. I know it sounds over the top, but no other place makes us feel as happy as Disney.

No way does it sound over the top..I'm just sad that it took me so long to discover it..
