Budgeting When Traveling with a Group

It can be difficult enough to budget for a Disney Vacation when just planning for one family, but things can be even trickier when you toss in planning with extended family and friends.

What are your tips for vacation planning with families on different budgets?

How do you broach the money subject with the others you're traveling with?

For me... its simple. I dont...

The last trip we did with the family was THE WORST time we had at Disney. They didnt want to stay on site. They just HAD to rent a house. It was just a horrible experience, and I have told Jess that we will never do that again to that type of scale.

Now... I wouldnt mind going with friends, and I learned that the type of room we usually get every year can accommodate up to 9 people. So I wouldnt mind say another group of 4 going... but we had close to 30 total people that one year, and its just impossible to pick something to do.

Mase - When I organized my girls trip in February, I got us 5 nights free in a rental house in exchange for us all Blogging and Tweeting about it. I thought it was going to be fantastic because we were all broke and unemployeed, but then I had to rent a car, and there was gas, and parking, and things we needed at the house like toilet paper. When I got home and looked at the numbers again that "free" rental house was actually just as much money as if we had had gone 4 to a room and split the cost at POFQ. The house we were in was beautiful, but I'm so spoiled by DVC, I won't do it again.

We picked a hotel that worked for all of us. We made ADRs so that we could all plan for what kind of food costs we'd have and we bought our park tickets each. For us, whatever extras we pay for will be our own choices.
