Well, I live in Nascar country. My dad worked for two nascar and Busch teams for years and years. I def. grew up around it. Have you been to Charlotte Motor Speedway and checked out the hall of fame? You can also go on shop tours if you come here. There are a ton of nascar shops around here....you can visit daily!

I wouldn't call myself a huge fan, but I've been known to watch the occasional race.

Definitely waiting, not so patiently, lol!

DS, 14, is a JG fan and I am all about Tony Stewart (once got son up in the middle of night to drive 5 hours, sleep in the car at a JD Byrider, and wait in line to meet him!). We've been to Darlington, Martinsville and finally Bristol this year. Would love to be at Daytona in Feb for his return, but can't be in FL without going to WDW...and can't get there til June!

Can't wait until the NASCAR season starts. I dont follow a particular driver, I follow the Hendrick Motor Sports teams - have some good friends who work for them. Has anyone done the Petty experience at WDW?

I am not a NASCAR fan but my sister and her husband are. My sister loves Jimmie Johnson and has in fact met him. They also won a Chevy Equinox from Jimmie Johnson. So cool!

Both the wife and I have done it courtesy of my daughter and son-in-law and it was fantastic. It took four days to wipe the smile off of her face laugh and she still smiles every time she see's the pictures that they (the Petty team) took and mounted for us. Personally I think it is a big waste that Disney does not sponsor a high profile race on the property as that is what it was originally built for.

They did have five IndyCar and two Craftsman Truck races in the late 90s at the WDW speedway from what I understand. But I also heard parking was a huge problem during race days. Not only that, the track was often used for practices and drivers got injured during those sessions. They would add the "SAFER" barriers later on. Wikipedia states that the race was never scheduled again because apparently, they couldn't agree on a date in 2001 because the Super Bowl was in Tampa that year and that they didn't want to schedule a race that early.

Anyway, I was a huge fan of NASCAR as a kid. Nowadays with other sports, I still watch it every now and then but not as much as I did growing up. I'm still a fan of my favorite driver, the #24 car that is Jeff Gordon though.

Last night's 500 was probably the most thrilling I've ever seen in years. Team 24 did pretty good. Just couldn't get past the 11 car of Denny Hamlin. But Dale Jr deserved the win.

I'm a big 24 fan too. So close yet again, but I'm happy for Dale Jr!

Awesome season so far yay
Will there be more than 16 winners in the regular season ?? I think so.
I also think that the 42 might just sneak a win to get into the chase as a rookie eek
