changing ADR numbers

If you book for eight, but end up with four, do you lose your ADR? We have some friends in Orlando who might meet us for some of our ADRs, but we'll have no idea which ones until we get close to the trip. Anyone have experience with booking for a larger number, but actually attending with fewer?

I've seen people go so far as to say they "missed" their ADR by hours and still have it honored. I suspect that in almost all circumstances they will work with you. They're Disney after all.

I will say that I've made an ADR for four and ended up with two and it wasn't a problem. In fact, Disney never batted an eyelash.

I can't imagine that's the best way to conduct operations, but it's quite convenient.

When I made my last ADR for Le Cellier, the CM on the dining line said there was nothing for 2 people in my time slot, but there was an opening for 3 people. Then she advised me to make that ADR for 3 and just show up with 2.

I did, and when I got to Le Cellier, I mentioned we were there for our ADR for 2. The hostess didn't even mention that the ADR was for 3. They just seated us at a table for 2 and that was it.

So my guess is that they'd honor your ADR regardless, as long as the number in the party is less than that on the ADR. If your party increases, that may be more of a problem, but I guess they'd still honor it, just maybe make you wait a bit for a table of your size to open up.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll go for the larger number.
