Characaters in Flight Balloon Ride--the latest

Characters in Flight photos and info

Looks like the attraction was supposed to debut yesterday, but due to windy conditions didn't get off the ground. sad

I still can't believe this 6-minute flight is $16. eek A family of 4 would pay $64 for 6 minutes??? eek

Anyone else think this price is crazy? Would you do it?

Nearly 30 years ago I was lucky enough to take a ride in a hot air balloon. It truly is one of the most memorable events of my life and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I'm not overly fond of heights, but in a balloon it never really bothered me. You are floating along and for some reason the gradual rise isn't nearly as scary.

I have mixed feelings about a six minute "tethered" ride, but if thats the only way to get a feel for the experience of ballooning, then it would probably be worth it.

A bit pricey yes but this will allow you to see WDW in a whole new way, and I've done a tethered balloon ride before, it was really neat. (That one was a small basket)

In 3 weeks I'm doing it.

Marzyar--you're going in 3 weeks?!? I completely forgot. There are going to be crickets around here in May!

We're going to need a "who ISN'T going in May" thread.

I strongly recommend it! Do you always go in the summer?

We have actually never gone in the summer, Brad. DH and I did back in 1997- but that was it- too hot for us Northerners (we are in NY).
We are generally winter travelers, but are trying the fall this year for our daughter's birthday. Smile

wise choice. there's really nothing to recommend wdw in the summer (as compared to other times of year): the weather is worse, there are more kids, the weather is worse, no food and wine festival or parties, the weather is worse...

The price is probably in line with what you pay for a lot of things at Disney. I was totally blown over by the fact that an antenna topper that I know costs Disney less than a penny sells for nearly $5 bucks! A family of four would actually be $52, not $64 assuming that two younger members would be $10 and not $16. I have paid a LOT more for a LOT less. It is almost impossible for a family of four to eat a sit down meal anywhere at Disney for less than $64. The balloon is a unique experience. I doubt that they'll have any problem keeping it busy.

Do you think it's worth doing more than once?

I would have to say that probably once in daylight and once at night time. I don't think the skyline and surroundings of Disney will change rapidly enough to make it worthwhile any more than that. Unless you want to go up in VERY high winds and make a real thrill ride out of it eek . (Just Kidding)

Good point. I like once in the morning and once at night.
