Coronado Springs vs. Caribbean Beach for Honeymoon

Hi all! I made a similar topic about a month ago but my plans have solidified more and I'm between these two choices, so I figured I'd ask everyone's opinion on a new topic! I know it's almost a year til my trip, but it's never too early to plan, right?

I'm planning on getting married with a Disney-themed wedding in the Orlando area in early May of 2013 (a little less than a year away) and staying 7-8 nights in one of these hotels. We decided a moderate was best for our budget, and I showed my fiance the pictures and told him about the atmosphere and he ruled out Port Orleans. I know it usually gets the best reviews, but he wanted something different with more of a beach/desert atmosphere: we live in areas with lots of forests and such and he thought Port Orleans seemed too much like home, and wanted something different. We like the idea of the white sand beaches, hammocks, etc. that are at both resorts, and we like both themes. We also both like how spread out the resorts are--that's one of the main things Ethan wants, he wants to be in a more private, secluded area farther from the main buildings, so a spread-out resort would be best for him.

So I need everyone's recommendations between these two! We're looking for something that could be fairly quiet (doesn't have to be silent, but not kids everywhere!). I thought because Coronado Springs was the conventioneers resort, it might have less kids running around everywhere, which would be nice. We'd like a nice pool area, nice hot tubs, and a nice food court--we don't care as much about the table services because we won't be using them, as we'll be eating around the World. But a decent food court would be good for 2-3 meals. We also want the one with the prettiest grounds to walk around on and the best feel--whether it's desert or tropical. We plan to spend a decent amount of time in our room and our hotel and go to the parks everyother day (we want something fairly relaxing on our non-park days so we can go, go, go our park days!). This is his first time to Disneyworld EVER and my first time staying on property, so any advice could really help: we're total newbies!

Thanks in advance!

First off, congrats on your upcoming wedding! yay
I stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort once but unfortunatly that was about 14 years ago so i'm not sure how much help I'll be. I do remember that i liked it and I don't really remember there being too many kids running around (there's always some though at Disney of course). I also remember they had 2-4 person bikes you could rent to ride around the trails and there were also little boats for rent. We never spent much time on the beaches but they did look really nice. I don't remember eating in the food court either. I'm actually staying at Coronado Springs for my honeymoon in november. We chose it because Port Orleans didn't interest us much and I had already stayed at Caribbean.
Hopefully this helps a bit Smile

Hi Kat...while I'm a big fan of POFQ, I have stayed at Coronado Springs before and liked it very much. It is definitely a larger resort and very spread out. The pool is gorgeous and there are a ton of little spots to "get away" from the crowds. I've never stayed at the CBR so I can't really comment on that other than to say their Pirate Rooms look really cool!

Florida Elks had their state convention at CSR last weekend and I understand the resort really messed up a lot of the room reservations and the management would not accept any blame.

Coronado seems to be fairly isolated. CBR is near the center of things. I like CBR for the theming and the palm trees!

I'd recommend CSR in a heartbeat! Besides having a great main pool area, CSR also offers many deluxe amenities at a mod price.

CSR has queen beds and the rooms have been recently renovated and are gorgeous. The rooms also have a sliding wooden door separating the sink area from the room instead of a privacy curtain like the other mods (can be good for little ones napping in a pack n play).

Amenities include a fitness center, spa, free wi-fi, tanning beds, a sauna, salon, full menu room service and a night club.

The resort offers the same toiletries as the deluxes (except GF). CSR has separate shampoo and conditioner instead of the shampoo/conditioner combo at the other mods and values (a small thing, I know, but it means I don't have to pack shampoo and conditioner).

CSR has the largest hot tub of the mods and one of the longest pool slides on Disney property. The pool, slide and playground area is great and all located in one area at the main pool. CSR also shows movies, has campfires and holds kids activities at the main pool daily.

Bus service is terrific and is not shared with another resort. CSR's central location offers quick rides to DHS, Epcot and AK and a 10 min ride to MK.

So, I haven't stayed at either of these, but I would pick Coronado Springs for most of the reasons that Buzz mentions above. As a convention property they cater a little more to an adult crowd.

I have stayed at both CSR and CB.
I stayed at CSR about 10years ago, right around the time it opened. Room were very nice. There quiet pools where nice. We ate at the food court regualary and really liked it. At the time i was there it was buffet style and you paid after you looked at the food and picked what you wanted. We had about a 5-7 min walk to the food court, it was a nice walk around the "lake". There were lots of bus pick ups which was nice, there was one right outside of our building.

My husband and i stayed at the CB two years ago for our honeymoon. We really enjoyed, the only thing i didnt like was we had about a 10min walk to the food court. Although you said you didn't mind that. WE stayed in the Pirates themed rooms, we thought there would be alot of kids concerning the rooms where themed. But there was were very few children.

Both hotels are real nice and have buses that aren't shared with another hotel.

We have only stayed at Caribbean Resort which I really liked. We have never even driven inside Coronado Springs. I think it will probably come down to which theme you like more.

I was thinking about these two for my Honeymoon too. We decided on Coronado Springs, even after initially ruling it out and initially wanting Caribbean Beach Smile Once I realized I could have the white sand and hammocks in the Cabana section of CSR, that worked for me! We're going in 10 days! So I can report back on how we liked it if I remember Smile But based on reviews, CSR sounded better, and I think we will be happy!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding ! muchlove

I've stayed at CBR and I will be staying at CSR in 13 more days! I have to say on the whole, I liked CBR but I really didn't love it. It was nice but didn't wow or charm me the way other resorts have. I freely admit this isn't an apples to apples comparison since I haven't been to CSR yet but I've heard lots of good things about it since it IS a convention resort - nicer amenities, awesome pool, great nightclub, basically Deluxe perks with a Moderate price tag.

I have never stayed at either but based on the information I gathered while figuring out which resort I was going to stay at.... I have to go with CSR. The rooms are really beautiful and I like the theming of the resort much more than CBR. Have a great time!

We stayed at the Coronado two years ago and I agree the rooms were quite large and very nice. We walked out of room and there was a quiet pool right there! It was our own private paradise. I believe we were in the cabanas section. We really liked it there except for the quick serve. There was some sort of set up that was very confusing. We were not allowed to get our own drinks and we were expected to tip for the service. Luckily we had deluxe dining and ate at the mayan grill for breakfast each day and totally avoided the quick serve. We were also disappointed with the snack area as we had refillable mugs and the drink choices were not what we were use to. I can't compare to the carribean yet as we will be there in two days but will let you know how we liked it. clapping

I agree 100% with this! We haven't stayed at CSR, but we just got back from CBR and were kind of "meh" about it. It was a nice resort, and I have no complaints, it just wasn't anything spectacular.

We're back!!! And I am happy to report that CSR is as fantastic as reported - we all loved it! When I did the online check-in, I requested to be in Cabanas and near transportation. We ended up in room 6741 (3rd floor) in the Ranchos section. I admit, I was a little bummed to not get Cabanas but that only lasted until we walked to our room. The Ranchos section is just as scenic, lovely and themed as either the Casitas or the Cabanas sections. To be honest, I have always felt like Ranchos is the third place, runner-up, consolation prize section but I was WRONG! We were in building 6B which was convenient to the #3 bus stop and to the Dig Site pool. Also very close by was the Ranchos quiet pool - gorgeous! When we stay at Coronado again I'm requesting a ground floor room in 7B facing the pool. The pool courtyard is shaded by some lovely oak trees that make this California girl feel right at home!

Yes, this is a big resort! Oddly enough, the large size felt just right - like it needed to be big in order for it to feel majestic and impressive. The walk from our room to to the front desk was under ten minutes but I can see how this would feel long when done in the heat of high summer, in the rain or with little ones. I'm sorry to say we didn't get to try out any of the food at the Pepper Market but I consistently hear good things about it. All the CM's were super-friendly but hats off to Edwardo from Bell Services who waited for me finish getting ready and out of our room so I wouldn't have to walk to the front desk (with a nasty cough and cold) on our check out day. Mousekeeping was spot on (we got towel animals most days!) and the beds were very comfy. No question about it - Coronado Springs is a fantastic choice for your honeymoon!
