Is Disney A Obsession...

Ok folks, I've searched the engine in case this has been discussed, but I couldn't see what I need to know...A little bit about myself first..I'm a OCD....There you go, I've came out and told ya all...It drives my wife crazy..Examples..When we change our bathrooms towels, all four have to be the same colour, and in rotation,eg, one week red,the next blue, then green etc..Toilet rolls have to be in a retrograde motion..Bath soap must have the emblem facing upright after use...It gets worse in our kitchen...Now to Disney...My wife has four sayings about me...I'm a prophet. ( forecasting my vision of a future Disney )..I'm a teacher. ( Always giving out Disney advice to friends who are going on their first trip ) I'm a Philosopher. ( Only those who are willing to see the magic, will find the magic ). I'm a preacher. ( Always telling my friends and relatives that a Disney vacation is like nothing I've ever experienced ) ...Here is my question to all of you...Is a Disney vacation just another holiday for you and your family, or are you completely obsessed with everything it has to offer..I'll be honest, after reading all your responses, and those of you, like myself, who never venture outside the bubble, how obsessed are you with your Disney vacation.?..I'm 100% ..So much so it even scares my wife and son.. laugh

You are way more OCD than I, that being said as far as our Disney vacations go I'm right there with you! I plan, plan, plan and plan again! I try and plan as much as I can to see and do everything in the time allowed. And a bit of more relaxing time is also fit I here or there! By relaxing I mean shopping, dining, drinking (only one or 2) and this trip water parks, mini golf and we will probably head over to Disney Quest for a few hours. The trip we're planning will be the last for a while as we have our west coast and a trip to Europe in our future. On our west coast swing we'll hit Disneyland and while in Europe a trip to DLP. BTW my dh doesn't know about my little side trips yet. shhhhhhhhhhhh!

I'll put it in two categories - Private life Disney obsessed = 20%. I have very few Disney decorations and most of them are so subtle that the average person wouldn't notice they're Disney ie: my resort paintings in the hallway. Disney vacation obsessed = 80%. I really love to travel in general so I look forward to seeing other places in addition to Disney vacations. But unlike other vacations I could research new things to do in WDW ALL the time. I find it fascinating how one vacation destination could have a million and one different scenarios of things to do, places to stay and places to eat.

I'm very obsessed! We don't travel anywhere else. I don't need to go to Japan, or Mexico, or Italy, I just go to Epcot laugh The only other place besides WDW I want to go to is DIsneyland in California awesome

I also have a Mickey themed kitchen, lots of Mickey Christmas decorations (and I'm working on Halloween ones), we had a Mickey wedding, most of my shirts are Mickey. Hmmm on second thought, maybe I'm not all that obsessed laugh

I think Disney is narcotic. Feels great when you're there, and when you're not you're trying to get your next "hit" by booking the next trip. wink

I love Disney, but I love traveling and seeing new places and experiencing new things. I grew up only vacationing at WDW and I enjoyed every minute. We love Disney movies, Christmas decor, and subtle home decor such as paintings or bath accessories. I would say I am 50% obsessed with the travel and only 20% obsessed with the decor/movie/music things.

I love Disney and will go anytime, but I do feel the need to see the real Eiffel Tower, Canada, 5 Star Resorts, etc. in other destinations in the world. I may be in the minority on this one.

I think I lean more towards neurotic than obsessed. I plan and plan some more. I book and change restaurants multiple times. I write up new plans than change. I already know what will go in our suitcases and we don't leave until November! Yep I think neurotic is the word best describing my Disney vacation planning. biggrin

Honestly, I don't think any of us would be on this site if we didn't think we were obsessed, or the least have a strong interest and liking. I consider myself more obsessed with my sports teams than Disney to be honest. But I follow Disney and other relevant theme park or travel sites on Facebook and visit forum sites like this one. But there are other places I went to travel so if I can't go to Disney, it's not the end-all be-all for me by any means.

So obsessed probably isn't the right word for my level of Disney World fandom.....

See I'm the opposite from you..I grew up visiting most places in Europe, then emigrated to Canada, and visited New York, and a few other states in America, then at the ripe young age of 52 discovered WDW.. mickey

That is so awesome! I have never been to Europe and we are trying to make plans...I just feel like there is so much to see out there! Sounds like you've been all over! I'm jealous! If I had not grown up going to Disney every year, and I discovered it now, I would probably want to go all the time because there is no way you can see and do everything in one trip.

We are trying to plan a west coast trip and will def. visit DL! mickey

Trust me, it ain't all glamour..What I hate about certain countries in Europe, especially Spain, is the commercial side of pubs and restaurants ...Names like The Black Bull serving up English breakfast and Sunday Roast dinners..( with Yorkshire pudding of course ) ...My favourite places tend to be Greek islands where time has stood still..And Italy, especially Capri, is stunning..

I love WDW, but I desire to go to many other places. Disneyland was a good start, but I have to make time to see DLRP, Tokyo Disney, Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disneyland, Aulani, cruise northern Europe on DCL, so Adventures by Disney...see? My list of travel goals is extremely diverse silly

In all seriousness though, I never flew until I was 29-years-old and the ONLY reason that I agreed to get on that plane was because Mickey was waiting for me at the other end. So I spent two hours sucking down vodka cranberries and I survived that first 2-hour excursion. laugh I won't say that I'm a great flyer, but Disney has literally given me wings and I'm really excited about the opportunities that opens up for me. It's only fair to repay the kindness by vowing to visit every Disney vacation destination worldwide! I love the Disney brand and at least at the moment, I trust that when I travel with Disney, I will have a consistently magical vacation experience. I can't say the same for other companies that I've entrusted my vacation dollars to in the past.

I think I may qualify as a 100% obsessive. I have been to every Disney park worldwide including three trips to the Tokyo parks (they are my absolute favorites of all the Disney parks). I grew up in Southern Calif and my uncle worked at Disneyland so we got in free often. I've gone solo too many times to count. I didn't visit WDW for the first time until 1998, it's become my obsession now that I live in the Northeast. We go at least twice a year, we've also sailed on three of the four Disney ships. I started cruising with Disney in 2011 and have sailed ten times in four years with three more planned between now and Oct. 2016. I have a Disney room and I don't mean it's decorated with Disney stuff. I mean it houses nine pinboards and more collectible stuff than I know what to do with, and don't get me started on articles of Disney themed clothing. I am the resident Disney person (i'm no expert) when it comes to questions about the parks or ships, amongst my friends and family. I agree with KenJ, it is a narcotic. With the advent of FB and other social media, I am constantly getting my Disney fix. Aside from this board I am constantly talking about Disney or reading about it or joining FB groups, IG feeds and even Tweeting from time to time. My pinterest page is 95% Disney things I love, the other 5% are normal things I like like Belgian beer or food awesome I'm lucky to have a great person by my side who enjoys Disney but isn't a 100%-er like most of us.
My DW is new (relatively to Disney) but in the last 15 years she has also been to every park and on 3 of 4 ships. She doesn't quite share my obsessive level but she's probably an 70% fan. Which bumps to 100% if you only counted Epcot. She could spend our entire vacation at Epcot and not care about anything else(cruises not included). I like to visit each park and enjoy myself, I believe she tolerates the other parks out of love for me muchlove
It's really nice to come here or the WDWFG FB page and share my love with people just like me mickey It gives me hope that most people are good and decent. Disney is my refuge from real life. Things make sense there, there's magic in the air and I love and I mean LOVE how I transform when I am there.

My name is Dee, thanks for letting me be a part of this crazy rag tag bunch. yay

I am definitely 100% obsessed! Everyone knows it, including all the people I work with who always get me Disney cards and stickers for my birthday. I am either actively planning a trip or trying to persuade my husband that we need to plan another trip.

I love all things Disney and I have a huge Pop! Vinyl collection of figures plus many articles of clothing. I wave my Disney fandom flag highly and proudly!
