Disney Quest

I have never done Disney Quest, so I have a couple of questions, it's included in my myw package but do I need any other money or are the games free once you are inside?

It's pretty much all free once you're inside. Some of the arcade type games might cost a bit extra, but those are in the minority.

The things I want to try are the design-your-own-roller-coaster and animation academy. I like the rafting ride and the pirates of the caribbean 3D attraction, too.

Of all the attractions in Disney World, I feel like Disney Quest needs updating more than anything else (save Cummunicore/Innoventions which is similar in intent). The whole place feels so dated, last we were there half the things didn't work properly, and the crowd management is pitiful. I know this sounds harsh, but the IDEA of Disney Quest is so cool, and ten years ago the "modern" attractions were pretty cool. Now, it just feels worn down and out of date. I wish they would fix this (along with the above-mentioned Communicore and Innoventions) and make them something truly worth visiting.

We're getting the Water Park FUn & More option this coming trip, mostly for the water parks, but we do plan on a visit to Disney Quest.

I'm a huge fan of Pirates and Haunted Mansion so that's what I want to try. But I think a couple hours is all I'll need, just to say, "I did it."

I agree it needs a major update, but as a proud geek I had a great time there. That said, I doubt anything has changed since I was there a few years ago, so I might have skipped it if not for the fact that DW has never been. I loved the Pirates attraction, the Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam (human pinball), Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters, and CyberSpace Mountain. All these were real fun and pretty unique (with the exception of CS Mountain, you can do similar things elsewhere). There were also plenty of arcade games worth playing.

It's baffling to me why they are just letting this waste away. In my opinion, this could be a huge draw. Especially with the decline of the coin-op arcade, this could be one of the best arcades in the country. Good enough to draw tourists and locals alike by the droves. Bothers me they are happy to keep fleecing us with what boils down to a mediocre product. Still fun, but mediocre and a mere shadow of what it could be.

I agree that it is untapped potential. I also agree thought that it's worth doing at least once.

DH LOVES DisneyQuest...I'm kind of "take it leave it" but I did have fun on Pirates and actually rode on the Virtual Roller Coaster...I'm not a roller coaster fan so this was HUGE!

On Animation Academy, my recommendation would be to do it at Studios if you're interested in creating a "nice" drawing...I found DisneyQuest to be too noisy and distracting to concentrate. My drawing from Studios is much better...IMHO If you're just interested in the fun-factor, either place works. Oh...at Studios, Mickey was in the lobby and autographed my drawing...nice touch Smile)

Now that you mention it, this could be the perfect "renovation" for DisneyQuest. Those of us who grew up in the arcade-focused 80's would now find the place nostalgic!
