Disneydoc's thankful Thanksgiving TR

Hey all,

I took my very first visit to the World on Thanksgiving week, and even spent the day there too. It was another solo trip, and I had a blast yet again. There is NO WAY I can compete with the trip report masters on this board - yes I am talking to YOU Hubs, Mase, Allie, Magic Mirror, Karlipants, crazycatperson, and others.....but I am just gonna give a few highlights of things that I did for the first time, or that meant a lot to me.

And SO sorry - no pics - left the camera at home (not on purpose). However, I am actually trying to unplug a bit when away from work...so that worked for me. mickey (but this board doesn't help that cause...I have to come here).

I did not post daily as I did last trip either. Decided to relax a LOT more this time.

I gotta say....the week before THKSGVG is an awesome time to go!!!! Crowds aren't bad, weather is wonderful, Christmas stuff is up to see. The only thing I would change is being able to stay a little after the holiday - I only had the Friday. Epcot starts that awesome Christmas around the world storytelling thing at every country, and I was only able to snag a few of those.

Epcot at Christmas is so awesome. BUT the decorations at HS and MK were to die for as well. I do NOT remember it being so full on 15 years ago when I was there with my now grown kiddos.

High spots for me this trip:

The Candelight Processional package! Dinner at Teppan, my favorite, including apps, a drink, dessert, any main course, preferred seating, and a good spot for Illuminations too. Geena Davis did a great job, orchestra was wonderful, Voices of Liberty continue to give chills. Top rate, highly recommend, and will do this every year!!

Visiting the resorts!!! The Wilderness Lodge was so beautiful. AKL too, GF gingerbread house was incredible. I also saw the Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Yacht Club, but they did not grab me the way the WL and AKL did for warmth. I can see myself plopping down in those lobbies for a sit and watch, read, drink coffee...just chill. It felt a lot slower paced there.

More later....gotta tell you about some treats I tried for the first time too. I had to bring some home to get me over the post Disney hump.

Later! mickey

Welcome back!

I'd love to hear more about your Candlelight Processional experience! Do I remember correctly that you said in another post you were in the second row?! I know you're considering buying into AKL...is that where you stayed this trip?

OK, so a few new treats to me....I will "allow" myself one a day. At least I try. mickey

I had one of those "holiday" cupcakes with the Mickey pumpkin on top from Starring Rolls...pumpkin cupcake, maple frosting, a cream cheese "dollap" in the middle, and the creamy white and dark chocolate pumpkin Mickey on top. It was SO good that I walked over there the next day from Epcot just to have another one. biggrin

I got so obsessed with cupcakes, that I went BACK to Starring Rolls yet a third day to try the Red Velvet cupcake. Another total winner.

And another day I had to have a carrot cake cookie...as you can see, HS won out this time for my dessert treats. I had every intention of having a Mickey Bar, a Dole Whip, etc, but this was a baked goods trip apparently.

Oh yeah, one day I got an oatmeal cookie from Writer's Stop...it was awesome too!!!

But my sugar cookie from Main Street Bakery in the MK was a boo. No flavor. Very average. My vote goes to HS.

I kept eyeing that butterfinger cucpcake, Jeff. I am going to get that next trip. Now hooked on Starring Rolls. And the turkey sandwiches there looked amazing too, but I had taken my lunch from the room to leave room for the cupcake decadence.

More later.... mickey

And that pumpkin cupcake? Sounds like a big winner! yay

Don't forget the cappuccino cupcake at . . . Was it Pizza Planet?

Seriously, it looks like HS is THE Cupcake Capitol of WDW. . . muchlove
