I have hosted once earlier this year.

My most favorite meetings are the annual "National Treasure Scavenger Hunt" It is held at the same house each year and we have a trivia/scavenger hunt game that lasts about 3 hours. We are divided into teams of 3 and solve problems for clues. It is so much fun. The family who hosts this event does so much prep work it is amazing and so much fun.

Most meetings though are just talking about an recent past trips or upcoming events. The host family usually has some type of game for small prizes.

Are most folks D23 members, and do meetings ever focus on non-Disney stuff?

That scavenger hunt sounds cool!

I would say over 50% of us are D23. I think there are 4 of us from the club going to the Expo. I don't think I have ever been to a meeting that Disney wasn't the focus. We do attend non-disney things together sometimes, but the meeting are pretty much Disney related

This club sounds great. Is it just Dallas people, or is it a wider area?

My chapter is the DFW area, but there are chapters all over the country.

A few thoughts about DL from my most recent trip:

when you compare apples to apples DL rides win out most of the time. Pirates at DL is amazing. I was embarrassed for WDW's version after finally riding DL's.

Making that first corner around main st and seeing that castle doesn't get any easier....it just doesn't seem right

I did not like DCA one bit. We spent a half day there and that was it. I felt like I was at Six Flags. I know that they are making major improvements, but something just didn't feel right about it.

I liked being able to use the Grand Californian entrance to DCA then walking through to DL

Everything is so close, you can see the park entrance for both parks from the gates of the other one.

I was told by friends that the fireworks at DL were better than WDW, but I have to disagree. I enjoyed Wishes so much more than Magical

I just don't have that "connection" to DL like I do the MK at WDW. My friends grew up watching Uncle Walt show off his park while they were children and DL is their comfort zone. I grew up going to WDW and some of my earliest memories are from there.

Fantasmic! is awesome at DL.

PS don't ban me from the forum, but I'm now a DL pass holder (it was only like $80 to upgrade my park hopper and hey, if it gives me a reason to travel to a Disney park) wink

I don't know if I will make to CA again this year but probably within the year before my pass expires. My husband has never been to DL so I would like for us to go.

I do have a short weekend trip to WDW planned in Nov to see the Christmas decorations and go to MVMCP

You're a PASSHOLDER?!??!?!? The NERVE!

Ha ha -- just kidding, Shelley. You know we'd all do the same exact thing. No bias here. When it comes to being able to go to a Disney park, go!
